looking for Formula

Hye guys ....I am looking around for a formula and have been looking at 292's ..I have also found a 272 (1987) that looks cherry. I think I can get a really good deal on it but the 331's and 292 look really sweet ....think I would be ok with the 272 ....its prob about 15K cheaper

mopower 02-24-2004 09:10 PM

I've had my 272 4 years now and love it. Keep in mind , by todays standards it's really a 292 , considering they now include the swim platform like most other manufacturers:cool:

If you are looking for a 272 let me know. Friend of mine is buying a 419 and is looking to sell his 272. It would be worth the drive to minnesota.

The "black" will be hard to keep clean. Water spots will show as soon as you start running. Nice looking ride though.

A 311 SR-1 is a GREAT rough water boat with a lot of room. By today's standards it as big or bigger than most 33's. I've docked mine next to a new 353 and you could barely tell the difference.

Good luck in your search.

I had money down on a 272 last year, but the deal fell through (thankfully!). I ended up with a 311, and I love it. I am still going through freshening things up a bit, but it is alot more boat than a 272. Don't get me wrong, 272's are a great boat, as a couple of my friends have them, but after they have gone out on my 311 once, they're ready to sell! I am impressed with the way the 311 hull handles the ocean.

I'd say if you can somehow swing the extra $$ for a bigger boat, do it. I ended up spending way more than I set out to (what else is new?) , but overall I am happy with my purchase.

Good luck torturing yourself now! Just kidding, but I put myself through some serious gut wrenching before signing on the bottom line.

I agree with Jaybird. Get the biggest you can. The 311 is a LOT more boat than the 272.

It's funny - just looked at boattrader, and that 311 has been for sale for a long time now. Saw it about a year ago online, along with some other boats on there too. Some people just don't want to sell their boats I guess...

The black looks nice on the trailer, but as soon as hits the water-will be dirty, water spots. Had a black boat once.....looked great when clean, but a bear to keep looking that way.

Yeah Jaybird,
That 311 has been for sale for a loooooooong time. It was on the market when I bought my 311 4 years ago!! You'd think a good deal could be had on that boat by now. Can't remember the asking price but I think it was pretty high.

Keep in mind that picture is the same one,,,,,,, 4 years later. Wonder what the boat looks like now.

When I bought the 311 I was actually shopping for a 292. After looking at several 292s, I checked out a 311. Wow!! Big difference!! Basically the same price and same speed with equal power. No brainer for me, I went for the 311 and I'm quite happy with it. It really is a huge 31 footer.

Good luck Jaybird.

offthefront,
You can't go wrong with a 311, great ride and responds well to power upgrades. You can get a lot of boat for the money with a 311 . I recomend one with the bravo's they perform better and more efficient. I sold mine for a 382 FasTech, my third Formula the 382 is a great boat, but a lot more $$, I hope it is worth it.
