Default Older Formula Help

Hello,

I have a 1979 Formula 255 that I need some information on. I have the brochure from Formula but it does not give me what I am looking for. I have posted on a few other sites and in the Technical section with not much luck.

I need to find the windshield if anyone can help. Also some pics of simular models will help me get the interior and floor layouts correct. I will post some pics a little later today or tonight.

Where is the fuel tank supposed to be mounted? Is it two tanks in the florr under the pass and driver seats?

I have tons of questions as I go along. Hope someone can help me out.

Thanks in advance

Look up threads started by AudioFN. He's got a 79 302, and has opened the floor and replaced the tank. By looking at his pictures, you may get your answer. He's also replaced his windshield with a faring, and you may consider likewise, or making an offer on his old windshield, if it's the same size as yours. Good Luck.

Is that a single or twin? The twin has the fuel tank right in the middle of the boat running the length of the keel, just under the floor. You can see it from the engine compartment. this is a '79 255

kaamaman,
It is a single. I just cannot find were the fuel filler hoses went to from the hull. Lots of holes have previously been patched.

I have decided to get rid of the portholes like audioFN's Formula 302.

The tank is in the center of the boat. You lift up the center of the floor and you will see it. You should really inspect the tank as it is old. Mine had no leaks but it was heavily pitted so I am replacing it. Good luck with the project and keep posting pictures and I am sure we can help ya along.

So far no rot found. That was the first thing I looked for.

Nice project. Do you have any pics of the interior? Might help us a little. Also check out Formula's web site. I think they added a Vintage formula section complete with factory brochures....

Check out Florida Marine Tanks--they mad fuel tanks and other accessories for Formula. URL's below---

http://www.floridamarinetanks.com/pr...?catalog=tanks

http://www.floridamarinetanks.com/pr...=windowshields

They sent me diagram of tank with dimensions for my SR357 and were even able to tell me the exact part number for the wierdo VDO sender that Formula uses.
