Yes. Thank you.
Appreciate the help. |
Definitely get in touch with Magicfloat. I bought an 04 353 from him. First class operation. The deal was simple, straight forward, super competitive and everything was as agreed. Troutly, another board member, bought a 382 from Magicfloat.
Good Luck!! |

I just finished retro fitting a 2002 382 Fastech. Teague 800 Mills. Arenson/Bravo conversion kits last week. Holy **** 106 gps. 6 to 7 mph fastewr than Bravo's that blew up 6 times. This boat weighs in loaded at about 12800 lbs. 60 to about 95 is done in about 4.5 to 5 secs. Better speed and no more broken Bravos.. here are some pics or chek out his site www.arneson-industries.com And check out boat on their site. This boat is on the site under bravo converison

Definatly a nice boat, tow rig is sagging though haha!

Friends truck. 3/4 ton lowered. Climbing onto the hwy headed to the ramp 2 miles away. Real truck is behind the boat in the pic. I know it looks bad:drool: Was already hooked up to that truck and first time in water after 5 month retro on boat. It was getting dark. To disconnect and connect to real means 10 mins less on the water:D Anybody interested in finding out about this system and costs ect. can call or e-mail [email protected]

Scott, there's a couple of 382's in the OPBA running the 500 EFI's, probably not as loaded down as yours, but they are in the high (est) 70's. With the way your boat is equipped, does that really slow the boat down 4/5 mph? I'm just surprised. Then again, I'm still on the "learning curve". :D Russ

Troutly,
What mufflers did you go with? I launched my 382 this week and I like the sound of the HPI's. I only drove the boat once with the silent thunder so I don't know if they helped the performance. I was happy with the top end 75-76 mph on the gps @ 5000 rpm with HP 500's, no boxes 28" un-labbed bravo one's. The boat does not hook up as good as I would like in the mid-range, 48-50 mph @ 3500. Do the p-5's have a better mid - range than the bravo's ? |
OffDuty
What did you do to that poor bravo? what was the cost to do the arneson conversion, who did you buy the drives from, and did you encounter any problems? |
I made up a chart for a 382, see if this makes sense.
382 with 500's ---- 382 with 525's light -- heavy ---------- light -- heavy 74 ---- 70 --------------- 78 ---- 74 add or subtract _______________ labbed props +1 to +2 ITS +1 Stellings +2 Dump Corsa +2 (open exhaust) on ITS and Stellings Fresh water -1,-2 altitude -1 per 1000 ft Hot and humid -1 to -3 This may be close and may help our brothers with their questions on top speeds, it seems pretty close to what you guys put on OSO. |
Offduty,
Have been very interested in your conversion on your 382. Incredible performance with the Arneson's and cool as beans, too! I heard they had to lower your engines 3 inches for the conversion. Doesn't seem like there is much clearance below the motors on my boat. Does that leave the oil pans right on the bottom of the bilge? I'm running 645 H.P. Sterlings in the '99 Poker Run Special. Just found a toasted XR drive, but I think the damage was from the previous owner's heavy hand on 950 H.P. motors. Any experience with Max Machine Worx drives? I think they may hold up to 650 H.P. and some tender touch on the sticks. PM me re: Max if you would prefer. B.T.W. What are you "Offduty" from ... medical, law enforcement, or otherwise? Chris |
I for the life of me can't figure out why more surface drives aren't on these heavier boats. 106 is smokin'!
|
John B's chart is best I've seen. Thanks,John,it will go in my file. Robert

Engines are about 3 " lower in bilge at rear and 2 " lower in front. I installed 4 inch Teague oil coolers on middle stringer under both engines. Tight but fit good. All other rigging is same as bravo setup but reworked to fit Arenson setup. 4 L brackets to install motors. System is about 17500 per side much less than #6 drives(31000$ per side) and CG stays the same. Boat did 99 to 100 with Bravo's. 170 hrs on Bravo's and 6 breaks. Boat now has 10 hrs on drive and everything looks good so far.
