I've got one on the way. :) |
Re: 302 Pictures
Cuda ... Thanks. There are a few things (read alot) missing I want to replace.
Ditto's on the throttle/shifter (Looking towards Fred) Mike, lookin at it in the yard. IT's been here a week and not in the water yet. I think I like working on boats just as much as floating in them. Spend all weekend going through it, cleaning, changing fluids and tracing every wire from power to source. My biggest concern is the winshield seems flimsy and there is no support in the center. A big bow splash could flatten it. |

Re: 302 Pictures
That too!!!! May add a vertical post on each side of the hatch. I know it will not look as good but safety first.
Cuda your boat looks to be in great shape! I saw another 302 in the Formual pics with black as well. |
Re: 302 Pictures
What year 302, as there were some significant changes made around 83?
|
Re: 302 Pictures
1984
Looks like I am going to add Trick Marine to my bank account for direct withdrawals (Thats a hard word to type :o)~ ) |
Re: 302 Pictures
Cuda has the best stock 302 I've seen pictures of. It is the same style as both yours and my 85, which is somewhat customized. Right now mine is torn apart for the upholstery, and the While-we're-at-it's. So the floor over the fuel tank is in my garage getting improved, and the cockpit is totally stripped.
I've removed the windshield in preparation for a custom faring, but that got back-burnered for the upholstery. Should get back to it later this summer or fall. The windshield was only attached with small ss screws, so it is not strong. And, my rattled. Overall, they are great boats, and have one of the largest cockpits in offshoredom. Very user-friendly. |
Re: 302 Pictures
I agree on Cuda's and on cockpit room. Interested in fairing project and how that progresses. The deck layout is rounded just ahead of the windshield base and is an ideal foundation for a rounded fairing (Been thinking along same lines). The surface drive in awesome although not ideal for my situation as a family platform with kids in/out of the water or dive gear on.

Re: 302 Pictures
Oh, you got surface drives? That would put the props back there pretty far. Even with my TRS drives, the props are behind the swim platform. Another project is bringing the swim deck up to the rub rail, maintaining the rubrail line, and extending it back over the props. BUT I've made the Mrs and myself a promise NOT to start anymore projects before finishing some of the half-done ones.
Yes, the curved line in front of the windshield screams for a faring, and putting one there will clean up the confusion of the square windshield and the curved line. I've got 2D templates for it from Masonite, corrugated plastic sheets, and 1 inch ridge-foam insulation with saw curfs to allow it to bend. The actual faring will be constructed from Nida-Core, a honeycombed fiberglass panel that is very light and strong, and not much price difference from marine-grade mahogany. I think that 8" tall on the sides looks right, but that is personal preference. The deck in the front compound curves in about three ways, and is driving me crazy. I'm trying to do this without damaging the deck, or I'd screw supports to the boat to help place the faring front. There are a couple of other 302 owners who are also interested, and I'll keep y'all posted when there is progress again. |
Re: 302 Pictures
Cuda is running the surface drives. They are sweet!.
We are building an aluminum tube swim platform that will extend approx 6" further aft. Notches are included to facilitate lifting with the transom d rings. I will post pics when complete. We are set up to build swim platforms so first one is now in production. |
