Silent Thunder "box" removal question

Okay, it's been awhile since I've asked a stupid question. How many bolts does the silent thunder box have in attaching it to the transom? I think I know but want to be sure. Thanks. Russ

Thanks guys. It looks as though someone added two extra bolts on each side at the bottom with a steel backing plate. No matter how many there ,THAT SUCKA IS COMING OFF.

Now we both know if I do that (which of course I will) you'll want to take yours off too. Maybe you should trailer down and we could have one big "off goes the muffler" party. I'm really psyched. I saw a 311 last year without the box and boy did it ever look good, just completely cleaned up the back, and I still hate those rectrangular exhaust tips. They just don't look right.

I can't make my mind up if I want internal flappers or not on the new tips. I keep hearing they burn out but then I don't like the looks of the traditional "Salsbury Flapper" either. And I think it's a good idea to have some kind of flapper. Any ideas anyone?

Two u-bolts at top, two brackets at bottom, outside corners, two small "L" brackets at bottom middle.

That was a pretty goofy question Outlaw, since all are visible from the back of the boat!!! :D

I told you it was a "stupid question". I'm good at those. I just wanted to be sure there wasn't something that was not easily visible that could cause a problem with everything else off, you know like one bolt somewhere while the box is hanging precariously above the outdrives, which I just finished sandblasting, sanding, priming, and repainting. Thanks.

I can't even find the little faces that used to be off to the left of the posting/message area. I see some guys can still insert them at will, I can't even find them.

I just got my 271 and I love the rectangular exhaust tips! Now I am trying to figure out if I can run the platinum E tops into the silent thunder this winter!
