Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
Hey, 5"PP (or whatever we're gonna shorthand your screen name), you shoulda been out in the Lake with Axa and I Sat. ;) . We came into Big Sandy...starting to pick up some...so off to Main Duck! Sat behind main duck for a bit, then off towards the Pond only to come around hard to port for the run around Stony Point and into Whites Bay for some anchorage before heading back to the Bay. Got K-planes on that day-boat of yours? Come'on out into the Lake with us on a windy day for some miles...we'll teach 'ya how to use 'em. :D

I can't make any sense out of that handle whatsoever. So, 5PM, let's have it. What's the story with that name???? Rip, sounds like a nice ride you had. I've been to all those places more than a few times. Did you drop ground tackle at Main Duck? If you do, you have to check in with the Canadian Mounties. One of my buddies droped his hook without checking in and had to pay a fine right then and there, like 100 bucks if I remember correctly. Of course, knowing my buddy, he probably got right into the authority's face and barked a bunch of unsavory chit though. |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
you river gals don't understand, every outing I've had has been on the big lake this year, i ain't no Oneida boater. Axa was telling me about the big 5-6 footers last weekend. I'll assume given his perception of size they were actually 3's like we had on the lake Saturday. The new toy is fully equipped with K-Planes, Latham, and it's even got bolstered rear seating to keep peoples dumb a&&es onboard. I think we've had two days of calm water this year on Ontario. Alot of wind. The Donzi handles the slop VERY well.

Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
ThirdBird, no anchor in the water at MD. Can you do the cell phone thing from there? Haven't been out there to overnight in 3 years and was aboard a buddies...how do I say this.... :o blowbote. Can't remember how he checked us in. 5P...glad to hear you have all "the good stuff". The East end is the worst, the way it piles up there looking for the River. As much as Axa has a "perception of size" issue :D , he was right on in his report to you. ;)
|
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
A blowbote!!!!!!!
What the fock were you doing on a laundry hanger?????? What'd ya do, take a couple days of vacation time to make all the way out to Duck????? :D Yeah, I've used the cell to check in out there, no prob. As for the waves on Saturday, I can attest to honest 4 footers with occaissional 5 footers. We went to Oswego that day. Calmed down a bit over by Oswego but they were pretty tall off Nine Mile Point. The 311 took 'em nice with tabs low at about 35 to 38 mph. Coulda bumbed it more than that but my friend's 242 was working pretty hard through that snot. I paid for that little trip in gas though. With tabs low running at almost 40, the "Old Bird" really sucks the fuel down. I can also attest that if I was running in 4-5 footers down my way, Rippem probably was seeing 5-6 footers up his way. It's always rougher from Stoney Point north. As for the Formula get-together, the 242 will most likely be there. Another couple with a 223 are saying they will come but I have my doubts about that one. So, if there are only two of us from down my way, how many total firm attendees do we have? We might have to let that Donzi-cousin come along. :) |

Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
Definites...
axapowell Rippem 5PMSMWHR (I believe, though we can pretend we don't know him) RaggedEdge (if he owns a boat by then) I'm not holding my breath... I'm working on a couple others, though they're the types that you never know what the hell they're gonna do until that day... My response is "be there or be square!". :D |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
No bolt-ons for me... :D Reminds me of a previous discussion on OSO, where on of the guys reported how he had a GF with serious add-ons once. He noted how often times in bed he would reach over for a handful, and not know if he had a tit, her skull, or the lamp.

Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
Third,
Are you one of them gangster rap music boaters like snoop dog Axa and his 13 subwoofers? Being a pond boater I figured you for a little more country, perhaps a little Alan Jackson & Jimmy Buffet "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere" , i.e., 5PMSMWHR. Rip, if you need help figuring this out, contact me offline, we don't want to waste valuable Formula forum time explaining the connection here. |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
"Snoop Dog Axa" :D and his amazing palm tree and kitchen appliance show... :drink:

Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
WOW!!!
I tried to stay out of this post and let the battle bbetween 5pm and Rip continue, but I must say, Snoop Dog AXA? That stereo has played everything from Rap to Showtunes. I like to think that I give a fair showing. Doesn't look too good right now though, considering that the amp didn't make the Lake trip too well. That's the second one in those little 5-6 footers I've lost. My buddy Chris is going to lend me a 75x4 to run the highs until I get my Memphis Bell back. So for now, no subs. As for the Formula Cruise, I'll ask some of the TIPBC members who own Formulas as well. I know Rip is gonna too. |

Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
Third...that's a good idea too. See what kind of response you get there. Don't forget to add in that we are having a get-together at Hutchinson's Boatworks afterwards for some snacks and frozen drinks!!

Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
Well, I posted on the general discussion board regarding our little Formula cruise to see if anyone might not have noticed it on this forum. That post slid down that forum faster than I would slide down on a Victoria's Secret model!!
So, either everyone that wants to go already knows about it or,,,,,,,,, nobody else wants to go :( I'd really like to ge some more boats to go along to make more of an event out of it. But, I don't want to turn it into a promtional PIA either. I guess if it's only us four or five then it'll be easier to coordinate times and agree on stuff. Looking forward to a few smoothies Axa!! Should I bring some rum or anything to help out? |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
I was at Cheney's today, Tom says he's in (1989 292). Saturdays at the tire store are busy. He's gonna try to give himself Sat. the 7th off to cruise with us. :) Who's that dude in TIPBC with the 312 FT? He may be interested...
5P...I'm shaking the spraypaint and looking for the # stencils right now... |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
Rip, Hey, don't make me rub unprotected fenders all over the side of that pretty boat. I hear with your new stern to stern rafting method and a few boats we can walk from the boathouse right in the castle!!! Sweet! On a formula note, there's a guy down by clayton that has a '02 292, he replaced my garage door last year and I met him at breakfast at river's edge. I don't remember his name. Axa, still working info on that 30' sale in the bay a couple weeks ago. Sound like we need to design shock mounts for the amp. By the way, tell Anthony Michs almost done with his pillow.
|
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
5.......You ain't gettin' near me without protection :D With a mug like yours, there's no telling where your fenders have been....

5P...I'm shaking the spraypaint and looking for the # stencils right now... Just hooked up with a guy from work here with a 271. He may be in for our ride. Hey 5P, I've got one brand new Formula bird emblem. If you let me stick it in the middle of your deck, you can go with us. If not, you gotta stay two islands back at all times. :D |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
There ya go, all you Formula guys go on ahead and I'll get my dog to modify the contents of the Slurpee machine for your return. "Hmmm, why's the blue goo turned green?" Third, you'd be hard pressed to get that third reich insignia on my ride. :blaster: Axa, me thinks it's gonna be a fun month :D
|
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
Ahh...yes, the Phoenix, the Bird, the symbol of new beginning, of quality and order...I woulda gone far... :D
Axa...show tunes? Count me out there Liza. This cat don't do show tunes... :o Everyone will think we're taking showers together like the two hotties out on the long dock. ThirdBird, unless he's successfully weaned himself off the Merc single lever control, and edumacated himself to all those buttons and levers...no worries, we'll be waiting for him. :D |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
Ahhhhhh, a good old fashioned ball busting crew. This should be fun.
"third reich insignia" ........ that kills me :D :D |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
Speaking of the two women from the long dock....maybe we can ask them to be the entertainment? Could be good to post some of those pictures on the uncensored part off this board?!?!?
As far as the Donzi, Mike can handle himself for the run I'm sure. It's afterwards that I'm worried about. Third, we'll sneak that emblem on there somewhere! It's shaping up for a GREAT month I'm sure. The only other problem is getting everyone to leave after it's over. We will have to wait till then I guess to see how it all works out. Leaving late for the Bay. Gotta get up early tomorrow and get the boat ready for the Poker run. Will post the rsults either Sunday or Monday! Later, Dave |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
I'll guarantee you a camera would get those two going.... Maybe we can get those two to make 5 inch their biotch, you know ...show him who's boss. :D
As for me, never been in the uncensored forum. What's it like? :p |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
Jimmy Buffet was/is a founding member of the Save the Manatee Club. Need I say more. I liked his music too, but priorities are priorities.
If I had my damn exhaust swapover complete I'd trailer up there in a heartbeat for that. I am SO READY for a good boat/road trip. Plus I want to show off my all my new trailer lights and I've heard so many good stories about that area. And yeah, aren't those older 311's JUST GREAT in rought water!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't think I've ever ridden in a similar sized boat that handled "the snot" as well as those boats do. Someone PLEASE take pictures.......Have a GREAT time and be safe. Drink two for me. |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
Axa,
Didn't get the call so I'll assume the cards didn't fall your way this year at the poker run. Are you still going on the SS skaneatles shrimp boat / dinner cruise this Sat? You should really reconsider Harbor Fest. You can tongue waggle the bosses sphincter any time, Harbor Fest and the Grucci Brothers come but once a year. Third, if your in the Oswego area, we'll be the second boat back on the inside of the first line of docks at the International marina. I'd tell you when we're putting it in, but I'd be fearful of that damn crow sticker. We'll be up at the pond or lakeview during the days. (they've got some goofy restrictions on the port area Sat and Sunday due to the airshow Sunday and practice on Saturday, check the HF website for details) Outlaw, I know the manatee thing all too well, I've done the snail crawl on the IC from Pompano to Miami Beach a few times. Did allow me to perfect my steering with the right foot technique though. |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
I swear the last time Axa broke down and cleaned the slushee machine, that it was 3 A.M., I was dozing off in front of the T.V., and Dave was talking with a British accent... :D

Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
What did I miss Rip? Don't get it (the last post?)
5PM...The run was GREAT!! couldn't push the throttles far enough forward. Flat day on the water except for the traffic in front of me. We went to Kingston (Canada for those who want to know) had lunch, then out on Lake Ontario around Simeco Island and back into the river at Tibets point to Cape Vincent. The Lake was flat, and there was nothing like it to see 20-3- boats fanned out and heading back into the river. From Cape Vincent, we headed to Clayton, then back into the Canadian channel and back to Alex Bay. A great day for most of the 59 boats that entered. 8 or 9 broke and we had a bad poker hand, but the smile is still on my face today!! Wished you all could have made it! I'll post some pix when I find my camera! Dave |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
Somebody will. :) It's going to be mid 80's and sunny all week on the River. I sure am diggin' this 3 nights on - 3 weeks off rotation I've got going for the summer. I'm heading down Tues. A.M. for several days, now that the "tourists" have gone home. Enjoy your work week!!! :p
When you figure out how to post pics that don't look like chit resized...let the rest of us in on it. Rip |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
UPDATE: It would appear that "the little guy" has bought a boat! :) (See gen disc; I've got 200K to spend). Time to determine a pecking order for the 7th. As much as "5 inch" should be last :D , I think the distant cousin-ship of the Donzi to the Formula may move him up a notch (two notches if he'll wear a 'Bird). If RaggedEdge shows up in a black shirt and gold chains  ... (where's the puking smiley when you need it?), I'll need therapy (uhhh...more therapy). Let's stick together Formula brothers and sisters...it appears more than one "other brand" is infiltrating the ranks of the 1st Annual 1000 Islands Formula Rondezvous! :p
|
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
Whatever it is, keep it out of slip 27. Had a nice 33zx come into Harbor Fest from Morristown Sat. Said he stopped by the boathouse to see if any Formula guys wanted to go, but they were all afraid. Speaking of which, I didn't see Third there either. Is the little guys ride onsite?

Whos' the "Little Guy"???

Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
My tentative plans are to trail up to A-Bay on Friday, the 6th. Stay over on the boat at the village dock, maybe hit the town a bit Friday night, grab a little breakfast at the little diner by the dock. Have the boat all wiped down and ready for when you guys get there.
We still planning a departure time of ten-ish? |
Re: 1000 Islands Formula Cruise
I like how the little guys boat appears to float above the water. Is 27 equipped that way? Third, Ten ' ish is relative to Axa and friends, all depends on how low the hoppers get the night before. :drink: Me and mine can usually get in 18 holes at the TI club by the time they're ready to untie the ropes.
