It`s not easy in a 242

Re: Head in 311sr
Yeah that thing is a beeatch. Not sure what else to do. I entertained moving it up to the front of the couch before the v-berth, but don't want to replumb the pump out. Oh well, just close the cabin door, and leave the head door open...
Also, don't loose your 775, or you will be redoing the floor. It's no longer for sale and it's the only model that fits into that custom fitting in the floor. You can get parts, but that's it. My 311 didn't come with it, but I lucked out by converting a 735 I already had to a 775 (same top, different holding tank). Otherwise it would have been a project to refit it for another head |
Re: Head in 311sr
SO your saying it is hooked to boat holding Tank ? I didnt even check ... I agree it would be better right below V berth ....might check into one of those Vacu-flush systems .....

Re: Head in 311sr
The 775 has a fitting on it that connects to the pump out fitting on the side of the boat. So no holding tank, just what the base holds.

Re: Head in 311sr
I just close the cabin door. Works....

Re: Head in 311sr
And I thought this thread was about something else! :eureka:
For $30, I'll send you an empty red bucket from The Round House at Put-In-Bay (it's tradition around these parts). I'd send a full one for you, but the post office won't allow fluids in the packages. :D |
Re: Head in 311sr
While we are on the subject . . . is there any magic to pumping that bad-boy out? "We" had to use it due to some unfortunate late evening drunken antics that put "us" in a position not to be able to us the lake . . . not that anyone ever does that, mind you. Is it simply hook 'er up and let 'er suck at the pump out station?
|
Re: Head in 311sr
never pumped one ...but I'm going to get to the bottom of this ....:)

Re: Head in 311sr
It is a tight space but when it is needed its there. I cant figure out how to get water into it to flush it out. We have just been bucketing water into it. DUH anyone know what needs to be turned on???

Re: Head in 311sr
I'm glad someone brought up the subject! What the frig is with the seat cover? you cannot put it up without duct taping it to the wall. My wife has the bladder of a drunk pregnant woman and uses the head often. I have to use a boat hook to prop up the cover so she can use it. Am I missing some kind of hook on the wall or something?

Re: Head in 311sr
So, ah, how is it done? I assume there is no fitting or anything that you have to open or any of that? Just pull the "waste" cap off, stick the sucker hose in the waste-cap-hole and start pumpin'? And CMG, that lid is pretty silly stuff- no hook, no prop, no nothing- but when you are lounging or entertaining in the head locker it is a nice place to sit, kick back and relax . . .

Sit Back and relax ? you 3'9" ? |
Re: Head in 311sr
To pump out the head, just open the waste cap and go for it. Then dump some water down inside after the tank is empty to rinse it out. Throw some of your favorite blue stuff in the base. That's about it.

Re: Head in 311sr
It was a wonderful experience- pulling into Glencove Yacht Club in my Uncle Eddie 311 sr 1 (trying not to scratch the multi-million dollar inventory of Sunseekers and new Formulas) and telling them to suck my head . . . and Offthefront, I am at least 5'11'' with the afro and the platform shoes . . .

Re: Head in 311sr
I don't have the pumpout fitting on the boat.
I just carry the 775 out of the boat to dump er out. No biggie. We don't use it very much. Mainly for the kids. I don't fit in there, and I'd just as soon pee off the stern anyhow. Makes a good closet though. |

Makes a good closet though. Anyway, it's just as easy to pull the potty out and empty/clean it. I had to replace ours. Bought a Thetford model 155. Fits perfect! Just doesn't come with fittings for dock-side pumpout connections. 85.00 bucks. |
Re: Head in 311sr

`Does a 1989 242 LS take the same Thetford 775? If not please enlighten. I went out and purchased a standard (I thought it was standard) head from west marine and just when I was planning my first trip with it, I found out it doesn't fit (boat never came with one). Also, I read above they don't make them anymore but does anyone have any ideas for something that would fit? Any help will be appreciated by my wife.

Nice timing to bring this up :D I haven't hardly looked at mine but wondering what I'm in for when I start letting the ladies use it. I have the macerator (with a key lock?) and thru-hull, no dockside pumpout. So this thing doesn't have a fresh-water hose to supply it? Guess I'm lucky I've got an on-board fresh water hose I can drag in there...

Wanted! Thetford 775MSD. Verified today that they are discontinued; I guess it is the only one that fits. Help!

Should have a small water reservior on top back of the unit with a little bellows pump on the L to flush it. Cap on the R to fill reservior. |
On mine there is a hose out the back that goes to a 2 way switch in the starboard gunnel. If the switch is one way it goes to the "Waste" fitting, the other way it goes to the macerator.
