what's that little "vent thingie"???

Anybody know what that little vent thingie up by the bow hook on the starboard side is? For the fresh water system maybe? I broke mine off and need to replace it.

:eureka: I broke mine off yesterday too loading the boat. Called Thunderbird,a nice lady named Karen did some diggin' and found that it was part of the 311 sr-1 anchor chain locker hardware. Call your local Formula dealer and ask about part#3314, hopefully they don't want an arm and a leg for the tiny little thing. No, your boat won't sink without it, if H2O gets in, it will enter your wetbar holding tank. Ohh by the way Russ, the Quad IV's work great, What a difference....dramatic. The boat has so much more power...could not hit WOT though,my port side water pump is bad...got us home but need to get a new 1... :D

311 anchor chain locker??????? huh?

If I have an anchor chain locker I don't know where it is. Of course I haven't known where my mind is either for about the last fifteen years. Something "the Mrs." reminds me of at least four times a day. Don't you have to have a "hatch" of sometype where the anchor chain would come out of up by the nose of the bow? I don't have anything like that.

It has to be a vent for something and the only thing I could think of was the fresh water holding tank. My 311 does not, at least I don't think it does, have a "head" holding tank, my head is a portable one with no hoses leading to any tank.

QD glad those props worked out for you. I couldn't believe the difference the first time I pushed the throttles forward when I changed mine. It just jumped up on plane as opposed to my old Mirage props, much much better midrange, and I gained 6/7 mph at cruise rpms.

Fresh water tanks vent. Actually, I have seem alot of boats where that is trimed off flush with the hull in formula's and Fountains.

We've been through this before.
It's a drain hole for the anchor locker. Even if you don't have an anchor locker the little black grommet is still installed.
My F-206 has neither a fresh water tank nor an anchor locker but I still have that little black grommet.

Okay, now I'm confused. Does the consensus believe that it does, or does not, do anything.

If it's a chain locker drain, and I don't have a chain locker, it would seem useless.

If it's a vent it would seem useful.

Doug:

Please take a look at the attached photo. This is part of the 311 SR-1 anchor chain locker hardware.

If this is it, you may contact any Formula dealer, or a local marina and ask them to order Formula part number 3314. (Sorry, we cannot sell directly to the public from the factory.) If this is not what you need, please let me know.

Sincerely,

Karen Reinhart

Guys,

see attached pic to see what's on the other side of this thing.

yup, locker drain. silver do-higgy is the vent for the water tank, the small black whatcha macallit by the trailer rail must be the other end of the hole in pic 2

Re: what's that little "vent thingie"???

I never ever would have guessed that was a locker chain drain. But that's definitely what I broke off. I suppose I'll replace it but not gonna lose any sleep over it. Thanks for the help guys.

CMG: I notice you've still got the gold stripe above the magenta stripe on the hull side. I had exactly the same but I couldn't see where the gold went with anything so I redid mine in black. I still think our graphics look cool. Kind of timeless or something like that.
