05 Fastech trailer colors
Help me out here, have an 05 382 in the new Lazer color (the photo shoot boat)and will soon have a 353 in the new Flash color. Have ordered Prestige trailers but unsure of trailer colors. I wanted to do the 382 trailer in either black or the metallic gunmetal color(the predominate Lazer color),and the Flash trailer in either yellow or silver blue(the predominate Flash colors). Karen says no way,do both in Formula white and pinstripe in the colors. She says it will be too much color if we don't do white and will detract from the boats. If you haven't seen these new colors they are on the Formula website,or they are both in the new Oct Powerboat Mag 2 page ad that I got today. The Lazer has a black cockpit cover and Flash has a red cover. I normally listen to Karen on colors but would like some input from the Formula crew here. Opinions? Robert

Re: 05 Fastech trailer colors
Of course I would go with an aluminum trailer, but for steel, I agree with Karen. All white with stripes to tie it in with the boat.

Aluminum trailers can match too.
A little handy work with M3 striping tape  . |
Re: 05 Fastech trailer colors
Black on both. It really makes the BOAT stand out, and not the trailer. Definately a primary color though, black or white, something easy to touch up.

Re: 05 Fastech trailer colors
I have always gone with the color that is LEAST predominant on the boat, for the trailer. It gives more of an accent or a compliment to the boat vs. a "too much of the same" look. For the Flash maybe go with the red or the purple, and for the Lazer, try the orange? Just my .02. I do the same with the bow reg. #'s, take the two colors that are the least predominant on the boat and do up the numbers with them in a base / outline effect. Looks sharp and compliments the colors that are less well seen when you first look at the boat.

Re: 05 Fastech trailer colors
Formula white with a few up grades. For sure electric jack. White is easy to touch up. Karen has my vote. Plus what if they don't want the trailer that you now have to paint to match the next boat. Rex

Where the heck can I buy a high quality electric jack. I hate these damn flimsy Fultons that come on all these traiers. |
Re: 05 Fastech trailer colors
I'm with the Trout-man about the black. I have one. I would never choose it.
You know your customer base Robert, 90%+ go as a package for you don't they? White is b o r i n g... Picking out a secondary paint color for the trailer as noted above gives a real class, integrated look to the package. Be daring for these two boats. These packages deserve lots of color! Good luck! |

THE GOOD STUFF--
Not to get off the subject but I'm sure I saw your boat "THE GOOD STUFF" floating in Northern, MI 03' 353 525's w/boxes the name certainly precedes the boat. The new owner is grinning from ear to ear. It is a gorgeous rig! I have an older 357 that is for sale, and I am in the market for a 353 or 382 so I had to go talk to him. His name was Shane from Traverse City. Small World! Josh |
Re: 05 Fastech trailer colors
Josh, that is Rex's old 353 in Mi. Shane picked it up from us a couple weeks ago. Really nice 353 that runs great. Rex really got the props dialed in good. Getting so many opinions on trailer colors I'm still in the air over it. Looks like Karen may win out tho :)

Re: 05 Fastech trailer colors
C'mon Robert, think outside the box on these. :D Formula is getting daring with their colors these days, and being a former owner of two of their boats, the one thing that they always had going -and still do - is class and quality. White is too generic, you need to get a nice side profile shot of these boats on (any) trailer, (maybe from Scott?) and drop it in photo shop and see what it looks like in a mock-up scenario. I think that if you use a "secondary" color, (to quote Rippem) to accent the package, it would look sweet. When people see these packages, they'll know they came from your shop. I have read that you always like to be different with your boats, (ordered your Donzi Classics without the ski eye and so on...). Throw an orange trailer under that Lazer paint, sit back and take in the view! It will truly make it a "package", not just another boat on a white trailer...

Re: 05 Fastech trailer colors
Looks like Karen won,I'm going with white, which looks great on any Formula. As a dealer,we sell a lot of boats without trailers and a lot for salt water which has to be aluminum. If I have a specific color trailer and sell the boat without it I must order another in same color which can sometimes be a problem. And if anyone insists on a specific color Prestige I can always get one and loan him a trailer till it is built. Presto, problem solved and Karen is happy. Thanks for the input, lots of good ideas. Troutman, the 353 is 525s with Stellings boxes, Robert

Like I tell people when they are picking out tile for a bathroom or kitchen, white never goes out of style. |

Re: 05 Fastech trailer colors
Did The Good Stuff ever make 90MPH w/ 5 blades?
|
Re: 05 Fastech trailer colors
Never got to try 5 blades on The Good Stuff.Gps'ed at 89 just before new owner got it in a short test with 33 Bravo1's (Merc labbed from 32's). Jeff Layton's new 04 hit 90 Gps with 35's(Merc labbed from 34's) but too much pitch made it tough to plane and not a good all around setup. We went with labbed Maximas on it(have to check notes on pitch) and got 89.5 and good acceleration and bow lift, also in a short test. Either setup should see 90.
