Try this, it worked on my 336 formula.... Use a razor blade knife to make a slit into the adhesive all the way around the exhaust tip. Then take a 4' length of 2X4 and trim a little off one end so that it will slide into the tip. Then gently pry up,down,left and right and the top should loosen. Just make sure that you have removed the screws that hold the tip to the transom and the metal clamps around the hose in the engine compartment loose. Mine came off real easy.

Instead of piano wire, you probably could find a pack of guitar strings much easier at any music supply store. I'd suggest electric strings starting at 11 gauge. Probably cost $5.

Why does everyone take the platform off of there old Formula's? This is what gives them the good looks.I would never take the platform off of mine.... I just don't understand.

She HATES my boat. She says I spend money on it when I should be spending it in other places. She's partially right. It's just my sanity that's all.

His web site appears top be down right now. I bought some of this stuff, and it worked like a charm. I had some parts that were covered with blobs of 5200. Cut around the edges with a raxor blade for the stuff to get it, sprayed it on, and it all came right off. Amazing stuff.

Just took the corsa muffler tips off of my 382 and the dealer's advice was to beat them out with a 4 X 4. Wasn't going to happen with them glued in with 5200. Found a trick to get them loose. I used floor jack and a correct length piece of wood (from the jack to the end of tip). By jacking the tip upward (maybe 1/4") and putting some sheer stress on the 5200, it breaks the seal. Then it was a matter of tapping the tip out. By spraying a little WD40 around the inboard portion of the tip, it came right out. There was no damage to the underlying gel.

Granted, mine were only installed for four months.

I used the Debond product and it is fine for clean up but was not effective for breaking/dissolving the 5200 seal between the tip and transom.
