Side panel removal
 

I have to rewire a horn on my 357 SR1. It's on the port side adjacent to the bulkhead between the cockpit and cabin. I'm thinking that the side panel by the port-side bolster seat has to be removed. However, I see no visible hardware. Does anyone know the best way to remove this panel? Relocation for the horn could work too but I'm curious about this panel. It's pretty solid and does not seem to move. The boat is an 86.

I'm having oppostie problem--guys that re-did upholstery forgot to put the same panel back that is on the starboard side.

My only gusee is that the "runner" along the bottom of that area has to be removed--but I can't see any harware on that either--

I relocated horn s to radar arch but would like remove old wiring but not by just yanking it back thru--

Hope someone has done this job before.

On my '85 302 (not a 357, but might still hold) pull the fridge in the cuddy, right in front of the passanger seat, and you have easy access to the horn.

Chart; How big of a job is pulling the fridge considering it's original? It works now but what should I pay special attention to? I would assume that it's all self-contained with just wires to unplug after removing some mounting screws? Any special grounding requirements?

It was a surprisingly little deal, not what I was afraid it would be.

There are a few screws around the edge of the face plate (the area that rings where the door gasket fits). Remove them. Start pulling/tugging on the fridge sliding it out of the hole it lives in. And on mine it was a tight fit. Kudos to Formula's cabinet makers. Once free, simply unplug the 110 V power cord (a second person may be helpful here if there is room) and set the fridge where you can in the cabin. You'll be amazed how much space is around and behind the fridge in the cabinet.

I don't remember if the door had to come off to have it clear the head on the other side of the isle, but it is snug removing the fridge and relocating it.

Overall, it is just like the dorm units from college, but with a face plate instead of finished sides. I ended up putting it on my workbench as a garage fridge. Plan to turn the now-empty area into a storage closet as we never used the fridge in the boat anyway.
