'05 Platinum Lazer opinion

What do you Formula lovers think of the '05 Platinum Lazer color? Too much? Will it ba like another Firestorm? (I hear people got sick of seeing the Firestorms as time went on)

Re: '05 Platinum Lazer opinion

I personally have not liked the Formula paint schemes as of late. For me they are way too "busy". I think there is beauty in "simplicity".

I believe in the KISS approach, keep it simple stupid.....:drink:

If I could afford a new Formula, I'd order it all white. Then I could do what I want and not see myself all the time. (which I do with my Palm Beach graphics on Outlaw)

Eventually Outlaw will be white with very simple graphics if anything at all.

Re: '05 Platinum Lazer opinion

I don't like most of the new schemes either, and at first didn't like the Lazer. Now it's kind of growing on me and I'm thinking of picking that one. I think I might have to see the Lazer in the water. They get a hefty penny for the Platinum!

Re: '05 Platinum Lazer opinion

Yeah, it's definitely best to try to see what it looks like in the water and out.

Couple of years ago they offered the "Infrared" paint option which I thought was pretty cool. There's a 382 I see every once in a while down here and everytime I see it I think it looks as good as the first time I saw it. Looks better in person (to me anyway) than the brochures.

Which one exactly are you considering? I'd like to go into the Formula site and check it out. Russ

It would be the formula picture with the boat on the bottom of the two. The more I look at it, the more I like it. I just think they over did it with all the graphics on the bow. I may change my mind once I see it up close. I used to hate how the cigs painted their boat, but lately I've seen some incredible paint schemes by Gave Hunter. A lot of paint, but tastefully done. I'd love to have this Cig, but it's a liitle pricey and doesn't have all of the creature features the Formula does.

Re: '05 Platinum Lazer opinion

I think it's too busy, remove the dashed red and grey lines and it could be Ok.

And is it just my eyes, or is that black vinyl on the sunpad? WTF were they thinking??

I thought the same, but I usually have a towel on the back when we're back there anyways.

Re: '05 Platinum Lazer opinion

I like it! Black/red/gray is a great combination, IMO. I would change the sunpad to something lighter, though

DEFINATLY change the sun pad.

Hey Dude-u-rock,

I really like the boat you already have!

Chris

BTW ... I think that should be your new OSO screen name. Nice boat, nice bike (by your avatar), two adorable "Smokecraft" daughters, and also a good guy to talk to! :D

Thanks Dog. I love the boat I have, but if I can find a newer one I would really like to make the change. The more I look, the more I do see the value in my boat! We're still on for Put-In! I already got the beers on ice!

Dude-U-Rock has a ring, but actually it's named after my two Boxer Dogs, Duke and Rocky!

I personally love the Lazer graphics, have ordered it on my demo 353 with 600's,but you all know I'm prejudiced :drink: The 05 Fastech brochure has a nice photo inside the foldout front cover, shows the Lazer 382 in the water in the Bahamas, engineer Pat Laux behind the wheel with a beautiful lady on the bow, beautiful shot of this actual boat, wish it was on the Formula website.

So exactly where do they find these ladies (unlikely in the cornfields of Decatur) and where do I sign up for the photoshoot in the Bahamas? Heard this is a week of really hard work toting jet fuel for the photo helo all across the island, washing the boats, toting more jet fuel, and washing boats the again. Might be tuff duty, but I'd be willing take one for the team! :drink:

Always wondered about that!

RedDog after my golden retriever Abigail. Lost her October 26. :(

Tha lazer is on the Formula website. Open their main page and then click on Fastech. I think that's the one you're referring to. In the brochure that boat looks a mile long!

Actually, those ladies are from Decatur, or at least they used to be. Formula always used family for their photo shoots. Most of the men were Porters except for those that married Porter girls. The woman were the wives and girlfriends. Now, I don't know if they still do that exclusively with family but, I know they used to.

Those Porter boys do pretty well landing lovely ladies, eh? Amazing what owning a successful boat company will do because those dudes ain't exactly handsome!!!! :D

Re: '05 Platinum Lazer opinion

There's a previous thread that addressed how the boats attracted the women. Had something to do with money!

I too have appreciated the Porter's ladies for a few years now. :D

Re: '05 Platinum Lazer opinion

Dog,
Sorry to hear about about Abigail. Had dogs my whole life growing up. Always like part of the family...just as hard to see them go. Sad to say, but we always "replaced" them with other dogs to make the pain go away! Seemed to work. I'm gonna be hurt when the boxers go. They have more personality and loyalty than any other dog I ever had.

Over the years I've had six Dobermans. Every one of them was as much of a family member as anyone. Number six, the one I have now, is named after my paternal grandmother. We are paying for that. Man, are we ever paying for that. She's the most intelligent one ever.

Tanya
Pinta
Jaus (only male I've owned, could never get one like him again)
Karma
Sadie
Bernis

First five were all "German" Dobermans. Bernis is the first "American", a Warlock.

RD, sorry to hear of your loss. I know what it's like. Russ

That's a good boy, good boy.

I miss my dog,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, had to put Gus down a year and a half ago. He was my buddy.

We ate a whole pizza together under a tree at the vet's office (well, I couldn't eat much, Gus plowed most of it down). Then, I had to take him in. I held him for about 15 minutes after it was over. Heard the brain doesn't fully go away for like five or ten minutes. One of the hardest things I've ever gone through.

He was a good boy. I miss my boy. :(

Third, I'm right there with ya buddy. Putting my dogs down is without question THE hardest things I've EVER had to do. I'd rather cut my arm off with a handsaw but it's something that, as THEIR best friend we have to do for them. Haven't had one yet I haven't cried like a newborn baby. Just tears my heart out. And the only way to try to heal the pain, is to go out and get another one, and the circle continues. I have all my dog's ashes, and they are to go with me when I go. Russ

Outlaw,
I left out the part where I choked up and got all teary eyed. Pretty hard not to cry when you loose a friend, and he was a good, loyal, non-judgemental friend, always happy to see me and never not willing to run right to me when I called him.

It used to drive my wife and kids nuts,,,,, they'd be petting him or laying with him or whatever and all I had to do was say "c'mere buddy" and he'd come to me. If he was sitting or laying with me though, they couldn't make him budge (unless they fought dirty with pizza crusts) :D :D

Re: '05 Platinum Lazer opinion

Interior colors are always subject to opinion. We traded in an 01 353 with Signature Platinum graphics that was ordered with all white interior. New buyer hated it,bought new multicolor Signature sunpad skin(not a lot of money) and he is happy. Ordered my new 353 demo with Lazer graphics and all white interior(my choice) and as we moved our 382 Lazer boat into the Bham Show today I looked at the multi colored sunpad and liked it,wondered if I made a mistake on the 353. The point here is simple,Formula will build it your way and if you find an in stock boat at a dealer that sunpad colors are wrong for you,it is easy and not too expensive,to change.Wish all my problems were that easy to solve :drink:
