The only wear item that is hard to get is the boot. I personally have given up on Archer. I have been told they are working on it for years now. If they ever get them I will buy them but I expect to have to find a solution to this problem myself.

I had a Kaama drive boat back in the late 90's. At the time, I ordered new boots from Archer. The boots I received appeared to be too short. They would often pull off. When I finally got them secured, they ripped. With no other options at the time, I actually went out and used tractor tire inner tubes. I am ashamed to come clean with this method, but they worked pretty well. I cut them to size and installed over the ripped boots. When they appeared to be getting weak, I just cut new ones out and reinstalled them. For guys who are in desperate need of boots, this is a temporary fix.

Kaama Drive Boot Tractor Tire Inner Tube Fix
BigBlocks,
Do you recall what size inner tubes you used for your shade tree repair? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |
The housings themselves are getting hard to find. Spares are nice to have. Gear sets are still available by the original supplier as well as shafts. Bruce

There was a guy that posted in the drive area of I think this site last week or the week before that said he could make them!

Hey Kaama boat guys,
lets try to keep this active. Take a look at the thread that audiofn linked above. I'm not sure but things sure haven't progressed with Archer Marine. I think it's time to figure the boot problem out on our own. Anyone with CNC or molding experience out there? |
