New Swim Platform for SR357 Test Install
3 Attachment(s)
Life is GOOD today !!!
Go to put the brackets on and set up my new swim platform (STARBOARD construction). It came out great. Pictures attached. Had to mark a few things and go back to shop to drill and adjust the brackets and the job is done. We designed it to prihect 30" from the transom and I was cloncerned that might have been too much but it looks good and doesn't project beyond the most extreme point of outdrives. The forklift driver was happy about that too-- It has surprisingly little flex at extremes or sag in the middle. I didn't have all of the center bracket to actually install that piece. I'm pleased. |

The cold Budweiser sitting on the trim tab looks refreshing. Love the platform. It looks great. I wonder - Did you save the template? I'd love to replace my teak swim platform on my 357. Although I may have a line on another platform to use.

Re: New Swim Platform for SR357 Test Install
I made a "drawaing" while my old teak platform was on the boat and the shop cut it using a CNC machine. I have my so-called drawing that they used to make the AutoCad drawing that went to the CNC.
We cut mine so it fits right up to the transom even around the top of the outdrives and hydraulic lines. I'll try and get you the AutoCad file or at least a printout of it. Besides the cutouts for the outdrives, there is a "reverse" on the transom at either side where transom goes forward 1.5" from stragiht line across transom at outer end. That little reverse is about 4-6" long on each side. Other than that it is straight across. |

Looks great!! I'm curious as to why you went under the mufler tips, as opposed to over? I would be worried about someone getting burned? just curious...Rob
Love the paint!! |
Re: New Swim Platform for SR357 Test Install
I looked at the "typical" location that seems to used on "ceegar" boats and it seemed like they were high enough obove the water to make it a chore to get on and off the platform for most uses. I decided I wanted the platform to be good for lots of uses so I located it so it's about an inch above the water when the boat is at rest. At speed its at least 12" above water. I had my teak platfrom there for three year so I know it works and doesn't interfere with operation and gets out of water when boat gets moving.
There is plenty of water flowing thru the mufflers so they really don't get that hot since I'm running a closed cooling system and the raw water that's going out the mufflers only goes thru the oil/tran cooler, heat exchanger and elbows. The water is nowhere near coolant water temp of 140/150. |
