242 with new 496 tach problem ??????

just installed a new 496 in my 1989 242 ss running up and checking over i see no tach and it used to work i think new style ignition is to blame also oil press gauge appears to be backwards any body got any ideas dont realy want to change gauges as they are orig vdo thanks

May have to use the pressure sender from your old engine. When I changed from my 1989 VDOs to new Faria guages some read backward. VDOs are German made and their engineering is different than ours. Also there are two senders. One for the gauge and one for the low pressure alarm. The bigger one is for the gauge.
What 496 did you use? What's it run now? Just curious as a friend has a 91 242 with a 502 mag and gets low 60s with a 23" Mirage
