Should there be any drain holes between the bilge section under the step, through the cockpit (under the tank), and into the engine bilges?

Thanks Bill. I can't find any, I'm wondering if someone has glassed over them. Roughly what size are they? Are they right at the bottom of the V? Does anyone have any photo's of the location?

Mine was a single drain at the bottom of the V under the step. I'd guess it was a 1" tube that ran down and had a rubber and brass compression plug in it. There was a wire loop on the plug connected to a screw so it wouldn't get lost or too far away from the hole.

This subject was pretty well explored in last few weeks--"If you have standing water in the bilge under the cabin step read this..." --was the subject.

I've got an older SR357 and can't find anything ubde that step on either side of "keel" except a very small hole on either side--like the size of a pencil lead--yet water alwasy seems to get there.

I have an 89 292 with no drain in that bildge area, are we supposed to just vac in out ? or drill a hole ? I see lots of threads about this but none explain what we are supposed to be doing with this water. I'm about to put a hinge on my step so I don't have to unscrew it everytime. This weekend was the first time I have ever see water in it. But I'm worried about water sitting in there and rotting my boat out.

My '89 292 has a drain but my '87 242 doesn't. My step fits so tight I just pulled the screw and pull it up when I need to get in there. No need for a hinge.
