just got out of a 32 AT.looking for a good single.between gas and private school its time to cut back.was wondering what year fountain stepped the 27 and was itr a big improvement.also what kind of performance can i expect with an HP 500 propped conservativly.if you have/had one how did you like it.i dont do any offshore but inland lakes get rough in the spring thanks

95 was the first year for steps. I would expet you to be 72 mphish with a 500. My old 27 with 454 mag did 65 every day and 67 on its best with 340 hours. I can tell you it was rough at LOTO on memorial day weekends with it. Other than that I liked the boat and would own another for the right situation. A friend has his brokered at Raymonds with a 525sc. Boat is all white. Raymondsboats.com and I could put you in touch with him directly if you like that boat.

how clean is the boat.when i buy i plan on keeping it a few years so ill be picky.the 525 sounds good though

We had a 96 with a warmed up 502. We got 78 on gps with 2 people and half a tank on the lake. Great boat, but got a a little tricky in the rough stuff

I had a 96 27Fever with 500hp. Really liked the boat, in general, but it got squirrelly to drive above 74-75 mph - chine walking. On a cool day, you could drag the tabs a bit and keep it pretty stable and could get right at 76 mph (gps). Otherwise really enjoyed the boat. Was told to stay away from the 95's because they were the first year for steps on the 27s. Sold the 27 and bought a 2000 29 Fever with singel 500 EFI. For the little bit of extra money, I would go with the 29. Even though it is only 2 feet longer, it feels like it has MUCH more room than the 27, especially in the cockpit. Best speed so far in the 29 has been 72 mph (gps), and that is OK (for now :D )

Faceoff - if you are looking for a clean used single 29, I have a 1998 with a 525SC (about 235 hours). Boat is in excellent condition and runs 73 - 74 with 4 adults and 76+ with a light load (all GPS). I've had a few trick things done to her and she handles really well. I'm in the market for a cat, otherwise I would keep her...

it will be about 2 months before i am ready.just bought some property and fixing to put up a metal building.tired of not having my boat close to home and out of the weather.decided to put the horse ahead of the cart this time.but'pretty much decided on a fountain.27 or 29.depending on whaqts available at the time.was really planing on something with an hp500 an supercharging it but had never heard about the smaller fountains not handling at higher speeds.i thought that was fountains best qaulity

I will agree with all the input so far. I had a 1998 27 w/ 502mpi it was a good boat but 70mph is all it would do.

I now have a 2001 27 w/ 500efi that I purchased new, everything the way I want it. My only draw back is the 62gallon fuel tank, wish it was bigger.

When you go to buy one it may cost a little more but the 500efi motor is awsome it just sounds and looks so much better. Oh and I get 74gps all stock, and yes at 74ish it can get a little tricky but you will learn to drive throug it.
