Help New engine transplant
3 Attachment(s)
I just replaced my 502 in my 93 27 Fever original carb motor with a 1994 502 MAg MPI with closed cooling system from Vinnie from Mariners cove. The MPI has the raw water pump and the mechanical fuel pump together hanging off on the starter side of the motor. The problem is there is not enough room to put the raw water hose on the pump, there is not enough room between the raw water pump and the aluminum motor mount. If anyone has an older 502 and you have a picture of that side of the motor I would appreciate it. Or any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks Brian

Re: Help New engine transplant
Your motor mount appears to be further forward than what mine was. Yours has the tube in front of the motor pad.
Possibly mine had the mount turned around which put the tube on the back side?? Don't recall, but comparing the relation of the al angle to the exhaust manifold between your and mine kinds supports this. Either way, I used a saw and cut off the AL angle that was sticking up higher then the mount for a little more clearance for my hoses, but I don't see that being enough in your case. I don't know, other than flippiing the mount 180* and remounting the al angle, but that's alot of work. In other words, no idea, but heres a picture of mine that sort of shows the relation of my mount to the exhaust. Motor is a '94. Did you have to do anything with the motor mount for the swap? |

I think that will work..I will look at one at work.. |
Re: Help New engine transplant
After a little more thought, are the mounts even reversible? Can't recall if the pad bolt holes are off set because of the staggered cyls., or in line with just the tube being offset. Something to double check 1st.
My current 32' doesn't appear as close as yours does from the 1st picture. |
Re: Help New engine transplant
It was real close to the oil pan, I had to wallow out one of the holes to get the boalt started. I don't think the mount will spin around it already up against the oil pan. Thanks for the help

Re: Help New engine transplant
Hey Brian,
Not to rag on you but you should take advantage of having the motor out to clean and repaint that bilge, will really help you in the resale and possibly save a bilge pump?? WILL :drink: |
Re: Help New engine transplant
I wish I would have had time I had had to persuade my buddie that works at a marina to come to his work on Sunday to use their hoist. I will scrub the bilge and engine compartmenty later. I bought this boat with a blown up motor it was already filthy when I got it.
