5k more for Myco Trailer
What is everyone's opinion.
Go with Vanguard or drop 5k more for Myco? New 42X. Thank you. |
Re: 5k more for Myco Trailer
I would also check out a Manning's trailer. I was in the same situation with our 29 Fever. Myco was about $2500 more. Mannings was about on par with Eagle in price, but much nicer trailer than Eagle (IMO). I think Eagle is gone, though. I thought both were nicer than the Vanguard, again, just my opinion. All of these were painted steel trailers, not aluminum. I do think the Myco aluminum trailers are really nice.

Re: 5k more for Myco Trailer
Eagle is not gone. Talked to them the other day.
I've had 3 and found them to be top quality construction. |
Re: 5k more for Myco Trailer
I have to choose between the 2. No time to build one.
I had myco before and I am leaning again towards them but I'm really strapped. $$ I just want the best support for her so the hull stays nice and level after several yrs on a trailer. I know Myco will, not sure of Vanguard. http://www.vanguardtrailer.com/ |
Re: 5k more for Myco Trailer
Myco... construction is the best, welds, brakes, lights and finish. Plus she fits like a glove under our hulls.

Re: 5k more for Myco Trailer
I've got a Manning under mine, too. Nice product. E agle used to build a decent trailer, I've had three. But since they moved out to Albian Mich. a couple of years ago, their quality has gone downhill. Farmers, I guess.
My best buddy (from 2nd grade) was the head welder/ production mgr there for 16-some years before their move. He built anything over 30 ft. Since he's gone, I don't know if they're even in that market anymore. Myco is top-notch stuff. You've got a fine new vessel, and if your 2 choices are Myco and Vangard, take the Myco. It'll help the value when it's time to trade up. :D Cheers, Brian |

I have a Vanguard, nice but I had to send it back for refit...for $5k I wouldn't feel bad if i had to shim some bunks on my own though.
BTW...The myco flexs more because its open channel but lighter in weight, the Vanguard is box and is heavier. If you want to see them next to each other, theres a Myco with a 42 Fountain on it next to mine in the storage building. Click on the pic. |
Re: 5k more for Myco Trailer
tnks, Shogren has each also in showroom. I'll look at Vanguard when boat arrives and make a decision.
Looks like Bob-DragonPlay made a deal on a new 47. His old Sonic is at Shogrens. |
Re: 5k more for Myco Trailer
What type of price are you seeing on the Vanguard and what does it all have as options. I was HOPING to have my Manning by now :( , but the deal I made (almost 2 years ago) for it has not been working out as I had hoped, even though the boat I traded for it was sold to someone else. I maybe foroced to just buy one this year. The reasons I selected Manning was 3 main reasons, delivery costs, much closer; bow rest a V bunk versus a roller and options like laser cutting of the Fountain logo, give Ron at Manning a call.

BINGO Yes, that was a good looking trailer |
Re: 5k more for Myco Trailer
38SCK: Not sure on price outright, included on pkg deal. Upgrade to Myco is 5k.
You still have you 38 at Oshkosh?? How did it do for you last year? We only made it up there once last year, the day before they tore down Pioneer rooms. |
Re: 5k more for Myco Trailer
Yup...still up on Winnebago with my 38, boat did Ok last year, I am having the props detailed, sending them to BBlades tonight via Fed-Ex and still need to dial in the engines, port is giving me headaches but overall I still love my boat!!! Hoping to have her in the water in 2 weeks. Also hoping to have a btter summer then last year....yuck....what crap weather we had
BTW...this is for everyone...if you hear of someone complaining about Global warming....slam them for me! |

Re: 5k more for Myco Trailer
Go with the myco. just my .02 but I have noticed that they are the only trailers that the front axles don't get bent by turning tight turns. Hopefully one day I can afford that option for my scarab. I don't think you would be satified with anything else. Since you have the taste of getting a Fountain.

Can't Mel send someone mobile to your boat? Pay him another hr travel time...70. I had Mel do everything I needed since 1998. The only bad part is the stinkin cow chit smell everywhere and I've run over some too. WI farm country |
Re: 5k more for Myco Trailer
Myco is my vote... not much experience with the others, but my Myco fits like a glove, every part is first class.
I just pulled my 2005 42 Lightning 2500 miles... including through snow and sleet and never had a second thought about the extra few bucks. The highway is no place to have trouble with a performance boat. JON |
Re: 5k more for Myco Trailer
