Dave ...using another brand or type of oil is not a warranty issue as this law above covers you.
I personally would do a 5-7 hour change and go with a blend of 15W-50 Mobil-1 and 50% Kendall or castrol 20W-50 for the next 20 hours... if going directly to a synthetic oil concerns you. Then definately to 15W-50 Mobil-1 Goldcap and 25-30 hour changes or Redline; Mobil or Amsoil Severe Service 20W-50 and 50 hour changes. M-1 oil fliters...I would prefer the Super Premium synthetics in that bad boy...they tend to run hot.
...and Amsoil's new Marine Synthetic lube in the drives about every 50 hours.
But that's me...

With 7 yrs of pure enjoyment on DT35, Fountain has the speed, lines, beak...I did not look at anything else. Not to say they are not out there, Fountain fits me.
