29 speeds w/ 575
boat tested 81gps at factory, I can get 80 but no more.
Im running a 30 bravo 1 RH. Ive heard of same boat running as high as 86gps, is that true or is it people just talking, if its true what can I do to get there??? Any advice would be much appreciated. Oh whatever happened to those Outerlimits boys??? |
Re: 29 speeds w/ 575
My 02 with a Vortech 500EFI goes 82 and hits the revlimiter with a 30 B1. A 32 won't let it get to 5000 at about 80. Maybe it would do 84-85 with a labbed but 32 but it wasn't worth that much money to me.
It's for sale. I bought a 38 for Lake Michigan. F |
Re: 29 speeds w/ 575
If you are at 80 That is about right, I talked to a frind of mine that has one and he said he got 81 yesterday. There is another guy that has a 29 with a 525efi and he runs high 70. I have a 35 with 525Sc , with a full tank of fuel glass flat water and sticky air the boat runs 80 on gps . The speedo says 87 , I would like to beleive the speedo but gps is the way to go. add some rough water and the true colors of fountain really come out .

Re: 29 speeds w/ 575
You should be a bit higher. With some minor CPU and pulley adjustemnts you can get high 80s. I was at 80 with my 525efi..
I know of one at Lake Cumberland Marine that was 88mph with the upgrades. |
Re: 29 speeds w/ 575
I dont understand why and how the 525efi runs about the
same as a 575. It seems that the conditions have to be perfect for the 575, I mean it hates the heat and any altitude. I also get 80 with always about 4 people, half tank of gas and about 75-80 degrees out at sea level.and smooth water But overal it does perform like a Fountain in rough water, we go to the poker runs and we beat some 38 Hustlers and 38 Eliminators, and those big Formulas of course. Or maybe those guys just dont know how to drive. Oh by the way my grandmother used to baby sit Reggie when he was little. |
Re: 29 speeds w/ 575
those 525efi's are strong just listen to them when they start. my 525SC's are strong but sound nothing like a efi. I would sell my two blower moters and put in a pair of efi's if the right deal came along.

I had been reading the reviews and wondered why the 29's were running in the low to mid 70's. I was told that Fountain had adjusted the X axis and played with the hull ventalation of the 04. That I could expect 80 with the 525 and 83-84 with the 575. My 29 was delivered with a test speed slip of 80 and the GPS speedo's tateltail was pointing to 80. I think it had a thimble of gas in it and NOTHING else. I also wonder which way it might have been going down the Pemlaco for the test. I have only been able to get 78 out of my hull and know three other guys who have 29's. One of them has a 525, gets the same 78, the other has twin 6.2's and does 74. 80-81 sounds right to me for an 04 hull. But you can put that Super Chiller on and mess with the pulleys.... i have read that you can get close to 90 with that..... |
Re: 29 speeds w/ 575
By the way, I can't get to the Speed chart above on the Fountain site without knowing the htm page name. If you go into directly to Fountain.com and look for the speed page listed above I think it's hidden. I seem to remember a different one with the later 525 efi speeds.... so that sheet is old, but may be just what you are looking for if your hull is an 02 or earlier..... At least that is what makes sense to me....

Re: 29 speeds w/ 575
my boat is an 05 and at the factory when tested it had 50 gallons of fuel, glass smooth water and it was 80 degrees out.
It has a mercury labed prop which most people tell me that mercury labed b1s arent very good and if I re-labed it I could maybe see 2-3mph more. If I was to do one or the other either the chiller or the pulley change which one should I do? Nolimits: Does yours have the 525efi |
Re: 29 speeds w/ 575
I have a 525 efi. The pulleys give you more boost which creates more heat. Hence the need for the chiller. I am sure people do one without the other though. The prop of course would be done after the engine mod, as that too would have to change in order to maximize the engine tweak....

Mine was an 03 29 Fever and would hit on almost everyday... |
Re: 29 speeds w/ 575
The speed chart is old..I can't find new ones either.

Re: 29 speeds w/ 575
Did anyone notice that the 42 Executioner vs. Lightning speeds on Fountain's web page now list the Executioner at 82 and Lightning at 85 rather than 84 and 85 (which it had been)? Also that the 42 still claims the speed record at 145 rather than 171? I wonder why they do not pay enought attention to their web page. Also some of the photo's of the 42 Lightning and the 47 are the same. I am starting to think about upgrading and the web page is lame at best.....

Re: 29 speeds w/ 575
Top speed is priority. I guess they're not computer geeks like us.

Re: 29 speeds w/ 575
And thats the way it should be. Thanks for the input fellas!!!

Re: 29 speeds w/ 575
I guess its a fine line because when I do 80 in mine it feels rock solid, once the boat finds its groove, and it does chine walk pretty good at times and of course that isnt fun. And at like 75-78 in the rough stuff I do it all day long, I think what all these offshore boats are is an excitment and an adreniline rush anytime your going that fast on the water in those types of conditions. I take some friends of mine out that are used to the ski boats and never have been over 50 in a boat and for some of them they think its crazy. But I think a lot of what makes a boat unstable and a little dangerous is when ever you push it to its limits and what that perticular boat can handle, size is a big deal. I rode on my buddys 25 ft Warlock at 90 and to most people it would be down right freaky and it was but to me it was a rush and a blast. Then Ive ridden in a 35 ft Fountain and a 38 ft Cigarette at about 85 and it was like I almost fell a sleep, it was like ridding down the freeway in your Cadillac on a Sunday afternoon.
