35 Fountain
Looking at a 1999 35 single step Fountain. Twin 502's.
What kind of performance would you expect. Fountains web site says 80+, I find that just a bit hard to believe with 830hp. Also looking at a 2002 Sonic 31ss, sonic has for features but the Fountain will be faster. |
Vonbongo,
I would think between 76-78. Twin 365's run between 70-72. Dan |
I think I answered my own question, 80+ is with the new twin step hull.
Thanks for the reply :D, I believe you are right on with those #'s |
VB: I have '99 35' Lightning w/ Twin 502 MPI Magnums; Stainless Marine exhaust; 1.36 ratio Bravo 1's spinning 23p Mirage +'s. Fairing, no windshield.
4000 rpm = 59.6 - 60.3 mph (gps) with me, wife, 2 kids, assorted day boating crap, 180 gals of gas. I can run a full six hours at this rate before needing to stop for gas. 5000 - 5100 rpm similarly loaded I have seen 75 - 78 mph (gps). Loaded with less family, less gas, and less crap I have seen 80.3 mph. I always boat in salt water. My few complaints about the boat are: the bolsters seem to be set up for someone of considerably less height looking through a windshield. I had some extra cushions made to fit the boslters so we could comfortably see and enjoy the breeze. Although I found the left side throttles a little odd at first, they have grown on me. I would put the passenger bolster in the middle so that the wife and I could be cozier while taking trips. I also added a fresh water transom shower to rinse off after a swim. A big hit with the kids. Hope this helps. Best of luck with your decision. Tom [ 01-22-2002: Message edited by: MegaByte*3 ] |
