What is this for?
 
On the bottom of the hull (2000) @ the stern just after the last step, there appears to be a water intake...however upon a little investigation the "intake grommet" simply connects to a 2 inch diameter hose which directly connects to another "grommet" on the port side adjacent to the bildge pump outlet. Does anyone know what this is for, what purpose does it serve?

I know this has been discussed here before and I seem to remember that it was determined to aerate/ventilate the step. You may want to do a search of this forum for more info.

That is right. It relieves any negative pressure that may build up in that pocket. I have those as well.
