big hp 29 fever
I have a 04 29ft fever with a 525hp and a xr drive. Being we decided to keep the boat another year or so I want to do some winter projects. I am hoping to run in the high 90's range but was wondering if there is any thing I should do to help the handle the extra hp. It has 180 k-planes and the drives gear ratio is 1:5. Thanks for any help.

Re: big hp 29 fever
Terry,
You still going to punch it out to a 540 and put on a 10:71 blower... That should get you in the 90's easily. I am putting on a smaller pulley and re-jetting my carbs to hopefully get it in the upper 80's this weekend (temps in the mid 80's should help). I have heard that when you get a 29 above 90 that you really have to drive the boat and that it gets a little unstable. But that is what makes it interesting, its not like you will be cruizing at that speed all of the time. What has fountain done about your hull repair? Rodney |
Re: big hp 29 fever
I have a 2003 29 525 also and was looking into doing the same. I have talked with one guy that just put on a whipple and said he was getting mid 90's out of it. I would go with a 5 blade when you start to prop out the boat the 29 has a lot of slip the 5 blade should help with it. Alot of guys say its not enough boat to run 100mph. I think it has to do with the driver and conditions. I feel the boat is underpowered with the 525 and it could handle alot more. I have ran high 70's in 4'-5' water and I felt safe. 2' water about 850hp I think would be great mid to high 90's
good luck scott |

Rodney I will pm you my cell#. I have lost your since my wallet fell in the water this Sunday. I have talked with the a guy and may go with a centrifical blower set up. They seem to be alittle easyer on the drive.
