Tutorial on 35 Executioner

I have been pricing new Formula 292's and Fountain 29 Fever's. Today at a boat show I came upon a new leftover 35 Executioner with 496 HO's. I need a core understanding of the positives and negatives of the 35 Executioner, a comparison of the Executioner with the 35 Lightining, true performance numbers for the 35 Executioner with the 496 HO's along with handling characteristics and an estimate of a fair but excellent price for the boat described above. Sorry for all the questions, but this may be a good deal and I have to get a fairly quick understanding of this boat.

Thanks,
Ken

Re: Tutorial on 35 Executioner

great boat - expect mid to upper 70's - my understanding is the twin step(lightning) is 3-4 faster with same power - I have a '99 EX - & think its a great, well balanced boat that handles great & ez to drive. :drink:

Re: Tutorial on 35 Executioner

I just bought one aprox 2 months ago.Love the boat. Especially
the walk around. I had a 32 Fever & climbing over the windscreen
to get up on the deck,SUCKED!Good top end. 78-79 mph. Slow
out of the hole. Great looking. Can't see very good thru the
windscreen if you like to sit.( I stand mostly)I'm 5'11". Another
2 inches and I'd be above the wind deflector when sitting. The
deflector works really well. Even if your above it,you don't get
wind.It handles good, rides great. Some little nit picky things with
fit & finish work, nothin serious. Mines an brand new 05 and I paid
141500. Thought I got a great deal.

Thanks very much for the replys. Epeek, did you buy your boat from Mike at Mariners Cove Marine in NY?When I met him at the boat show, he told me of a recent sale to someone in Lake George.

Thanks,
Ken

Re: Tutorial on 35 Executioner

NO comparision...you will love the 35 over the 29. the ability to walk to the front of the boat down the side is worth the extra money alone....BZ

I have not yet started to negotiate a purchase price. Wanted to get some information regarding the boat and a benchmark price, most of which has been provided by the previous posts. Thanks very much for the information, I will post again when I have something to report.

Re: Tutorial on 35 Executioner

Im thinking about used 35 Lightnings. When did the boat first start to have the step? Do they have a single step or two? if two, when was that added?
Thanks

Re: Tutorial on 35 Executioner

'95 35- added the single step (which is still available as the 35 Ex model) 2000 the twin step lightning became available.

Re: Tutorial on 35 Executioner

Thanks,
Whats the "EX" model??

Ran-Dom 32 10-05-2005 07:37 PM

Re: Tutorial on 35 Executioner

35 Executioner - classic deck which is basically unchanged from early 90's 35 Lightning (the twin step model adopted the lightning name in 2000)

Re: Tutorial on 35 Executioner

Thanks,
Do they make a non "ex" model as well?

Little update here. Going back and forth on a new 35 X with the local NY Fountain guy and some out of state new X's available. $145,000 the best so far, from out of state, including all dealer prep and extra charges. Gonna have one more go round regarding pricing and then maybe go visit the out of state boat.

Thanks,
Ken

Re: Tutorial on 35 Executioner

Hey guys, I am freaked out right now. I keep my '04 Corvette at the family house on Long Island and last Friday, October 14th, after all the rains, the bay overflowed a bit and flooded the garage where the Vette was. 2-3 inches of water in the footwells where a lot of the key electronics are. The adjuster came to the house and did not total the car. The car is at the dealership where it will go through a full diagnostic check on Monday with the adjuster and I there. Then we will see what it will take to fully repair the car, or total it. The car had about 3800 miles on it and was perfect. Once I get through getting the car back on the road, or getting another one, I will revisit the 35 X.

Thanks,
Ken

Was It a top end run, or a hole shot run??
I gotta believe a 35 with 496 ho's has a better top
end than a 29 with 454's. My brother had one and
that boat barely broke 70 on a speedo!! probably less
gps. I had a 32 with 502 mags and ran 72-73 speedo.
My 35 runs 79 GPS. I don't think a 29 with 454's
will run 79 GPS. But hey, what do I know?? I can only
talk from past experience.By the way, mine has 496's.
Ask anyone who owns one, they all run 78-79 GPS.
GPS doesnt lie. Speedos DO!!!!!!

My brother just purchased a 35 X a few months ago. 496's with an aluminum trailer, paid 138K. Just thought that might help in your negotiations. Good Luck.

Wow! 138 with the trailer? Thats dirt cheap. Trailers
gotta be worth 6k. Means he only paid 132 for the boat!

That must be the one at Ocean Performance. Nice
paint. The orange interior doesnt do it for me. I think
you could do better on the price if you like it. That
interior isnt for everyone. They have be hangin on
to that boat for quite awhile.
