Re: 29 w/ Twin BB's?
She had 425bhp and ran in the high 70's. She's a little "loose" at 91, but it's still a heavy hull so it isn't like a twin step all aired out. The nice thing is I can cruize at 75 without stressing anything.

Re: 29 w/ Twin BB's?
I have had a 29 with twin 525sc and a 35 with the same and both are great boats. I have also spent lots of hours in a friends 32 with 502efi. That boat is also a nice ride a little under powered for me but would make a whole lot of people smile from ear to ear.

Re: 29 w/ Twin BB's?
Gordo, I have the first 29 Reggie ever built with 500 HP's and then had Joey Griffin build them to 575HP. It runs 91-93 MPH but after 88 it takes some experience to drive. I have never had any problem with water coming over the back and I have had it in the ocean several times. I also have a 32 with 572's in it and it sets lower in the water in the rear than the 29. I like both boats but it really depends on where your friend intends to boat. If on a lake the 29 is a great boat, but if in rougher water then go with the extra 3 feet. He can always put on a lighter rear hatch as I did on the 32 and it will help the rear set up an inch or two. Roger

Re: 29 w/ Twin BB's?
Thanks guys. Great info. Keep it coming.
I don't know whether I'll be racing or watching racing, but I DO know that I will be in Key West in a couple of weeks and there will be a buttload of racing. |
