Re: gps navigation,marine radio
I use hand helds for both. Usually know where I'm at or where I'm going but nice to have if fog rolls in (GPS)

Re: gps navigation,marine radio
They make a 2 in 1 unit but I do not have any experience with these GPS/radios.
I just purchased a larger permanent mount GPS. The hand held screens are very small and difficult to see and handle when the water is rough. |
Re: gps navigation,marine radio
Look at the Garmin 182C or 192c. They are the same unit but the 192 has all the map data internally. The color screen is fantastic in an open boat and large enough to use at speed. It's nice to have a fixed mount VHF in the boat since you never need to replace batteries or charge the thing when you really need it.
