shorties on single 29
Ive heard of all the great speed gains that guys are getting with shorties on their twin and triple engine fountains, I was just wondering has anyone tried them on a newer 29 single, and what were the results?

Re: shorties on single 29
A dealer I know tried it on an 04 or 05. Claimed no difference.

Re: shorties on single 29
What is your current x-dim? Some guys with the 27's have actually had better results adding spacers.

Re: shorties on single 29
I agree check your X dim first, Fountain since say 2000 has set up the 27 and 29 with an aggressive X dim, you may actually loose performance, mine is set up 17 1/2" I don't think you want any less than that.

Its a 2005 29 w/ 575 19 1/2 x dim. runnin a 30 b1 LH. Im at 81gps and have got a buddy with same boat stock but an 03 and he says hes gotten 86gps. Dealer said it might have to do with x dim. He says he cant keep his 30 b1 off the rev limiter, I can only hit it on a cold day. So thats why I started the thread. Thanks any more help would be much appreciated. |
Re: shorties on single 29
At 19.5", I don't think I would go any higher. I think I would try a spacer though.

It seems like you should be going faster, since you have a 575sci how many hours are on it? you may want to check your boost, also what does your fountain sheet say? Best of luck WILL |

It has about 75hrs on it. Last I checked boost was at about 4.5. I am goin to check and see what my buddys x dim is hes the one that claims 86 stock. Some people tell me he is runnin that fast, and others tell me that he is full of ****. I will measure a couple other ones the dealer has a new one and has sold a bunch of 575 29s. FOUNTAIN SHEET says 81gps/50gal. fuel, 80 degrees out and flat water no chop so? People have run the prop numbers for me and everyone has said I have way to much slip like around 17%. I thought it might be the x dim. but maybe its simply the prop. Thanks for the help guys. |
