It might go 100. The motors should make 750 easy.

Good luck with your attempt at 100 mph. Let us know how that goes. I won't have quite that much hp - but somewhere close. Are you doing anything special with your drives?

Fast Fun 2
Good Luck, you will be close. Are those Whipples on stock 500's or did you do some work to them? Had a set of Whippled 500's in a 35 Lightning. It ran 100 once, 95-98 a bunch. Went back and built a set of 540's then I had no problem reaching over the century mark. What ever speed you are running now add 10-12 mph with the Whipples. If the motors are stock.

At 750 you should be there talk to Mav35 He is around 110 in a 1997 35.
Jonas has a twin step and is running 100+ also.

Beak Boater - I see you had 540's. Where these NA? What hp were you turning? What drives did you go with? Thanks.

540's where Whippled, AFR Heads, Crane 731 cam. Started with Bravo's bought a pair of IMCO SC's. Both IMCO's had problems around 40 hrs. Rebuilt them both and got over 100 hrs on them. They were standard length not shorties. If I did it again, I think I would go Mercury xr. No warranty on IMCO's plus they are in Calif. If you have a problem and you want them to work on them you have to send them back to them. They are begining to have a small dealer network you should check with IMCO and find out if someone in your area deals with them. At least with Mercury you do have some warranty. Good luck..If you have any questions, I went down this road before I will try to answer them.

We were going to take the blocks out of the tabs but the customer said the boat would scare the hell out of him without them.

jonas - was this something that was done after you had the boat was made? I'm just curious - who can do this type of work? I would imagine that it had to be a shop that blueprints on a regular basis?

yes previous owner had done.
he had fountain do it. from what i understand and was told he was pretty tight with the factory, they tried everything,.
2 in short drives 1 in etc etc,,
its nice to buy somnethng done and not have to spend that crazy money...
he was really the pioneer to getting big speed out of the 35's, he did all the stuff.. i could not think of one thing i would or could do to this boat to make it better other than pony up for some herring props..

Nice bottom Jonas. You're right, it does have a little rocker to it! I think that could hit a hundi' with the right power behind it. :evilb:
