I just sent a email to him via Ebay. Will advise if he
responds. I asked him if the buyer backed out and if
so, I was interested in them. If I get any response I will
try to get a location to inspect them.

That is a scam. I saw that ad ad remembered seeing the same drives/description on OSO. I called the guy on oso to see if he still had them, and he had sold them. When I saw on Ebay, the scam was in Florida. The guy in Ohio on OSO said they did not go to Florida so I reported it to Ebay and they cancelled the auction. WHERE DID YOU SEND THE CHECK?

The guy's name is Dan W Train. I tried to contant them and there was no reply. I'm trying to resolve this with paypal, but it seems there is no insurance on the auction, and actually that is paid by the seller. I't unbelievable how so many of you guy's have been able to assist me in this. Thanks , BBB

The person that originally had those drives for sale in the oso classifieds lived in Ohio.

This just pizzes me off every time I read of someone getting ripped off. I don't know how some people can sleep at night.

I just checked out this post & it sounds like you guys are getting this nailed down.. That really sux that that guy did this to a fellow boater... The web is an amazing place to find out info about people.. Unfortunatley I myself had to use it to find out info for different reasons with deadbeat customers a few years ago.. Im sure you will be able to find him some way.. Try Docusearch.com it's one site of many that may work for you. It costs a few bucks but may be worth it if all else fails.. With the internet nothing is private anymore as long as you have a name or 1 or 2 other pieces of info on someone to get the wheel turning.. (it sounds like you already do)...

One thing to positive thing to keep in mind though... At least your username as a guy isn't TINKERBELL !!!!! :)

Yeah, I can't sleep at night either.
I bought these to sell and have an eager customer that needs them badly. I was going to double my money on them. So if even if I get my money back, I'm still loosing.
Maybe I should just get a side job instead of trying to sell freshwater boat parts locally. I usually end up buying way more than I sell. Except for this stinky deal, I have been doing quite well lately. I am learning to pay more and buy better things that need little or no work or expensive parts, instead of torching rusted corroded crap apart, or rebuilding broken run out abused motors and drives. It's just too much work. I let several corroded bravo transom assemblies go for $250 ea lately. Sure I can rebuild them, and make them up from new and reconditioned parts, and make $500 ea, less my LABOR ! I thought I was going in the right direction, but this latest development has me very frustrated. And is taking up time that I could be using to make money !
You guy's are the best. There are still so many good people left in this world. It just really sucks when we have to deal with a blood sucking looser, that is actually comitting a serious crime.
If this is FRAUD it should be dealt with severely, and should be publicized as an example.
Our liberal government and society is to blame for $#!+ like this. Can you believe the skel that killed the 2 NYC cops last year is allowed to live. My friend was one or thier partners and had to stay back at the precinct so another officer went on the call. Can you amagine his grief, and the families and friends grief ?
Also an arsonist is running around Brooklyn. I went to see a friend in the burn center last night that got severe burns , and has been in the hospital almost two weeks. I guess he's better off than the 4 people that died so far.
When this arsonist gets caught he will probably do 5 -10 years and then get let out to go on another rampage, I've seen it happen. I could go on all day. Thanks To All , BBB
