Interior Disassembly
 

I am going to be to disassembling the interior in my 27 ft Fountain so that I can replace the teal and pink in my boat with some grays and blues. My question is has anyone taken their interior apart. I have no idea where to begin in the boat, how do you get the head rests out of the seats ect. Is there ant thing I should be aware of before I start the disassembly process? I called Fountain and they don’t have any sort of diagrammatical drawing or anything of the interior assembly process so I am at a loss. Any help would be appreciated.

It all unbolts. look in the compartments on the side of the boat, and the engine compartment. There are bolts coming through with nuts on them, that holds everything on. once you get everything into the garage or basement, pop all the staples off that you can see and carefully pull it apart. then i guess you'd have to cut all the stitching holding the teal pieces in and use those pieces as patterns, cut new material, and sew it in.

I have mine all apart to fix a few tears and replace some of the wood, at the moment. It was a pain to get it apart, and i think it'll be worse to put back together.

Its a bear of a job. Get yourself a set of gear wrenches with a flexable
box end. Take out your side compartment plexi and remove the the
upholstered trim around that area first. It will allow you to squeeze
your arms and head in there. Use your gear wrench to take off all
the nuts holding the side trim upholstery off. Work your way around
the boat. Some nuts are hard to get to so look for ways like thru the side vents. When you get the bolsters out they will come apart in sections. Flip
them over and remove lower nuts to seperate the lower section. This
will expose the nuts to seperate the center section. While they are apart
reinforce the the frame. They tend to bend after awhile. Good Luck!

Are you going to replace all of the teal in the bolsters? To remove the headrest, there are a few screws that you can remove with a long screwdriver from under the seat. Most of the ones that I have seen have had 2 screws that are straight up. The back/side panel can be removed by first removing the grab handle and then the screws into the side. I think it is held on with one screw in the side and just the grab handle. It has been awhile since I tore on apart. The color bands near the drop down switch will require removal of the seats to change. Just a thought, but a change from teal to blue may be possible with a professionally applied dye for some of the more difficult areas.

just did my 35 the nuts are in the side compartment and up under seat and in eng comp. for the top of seat.

I started the tear down last night and I can honestly say I thought it would be worse than it was. However tonight I am going to tackle the front seats and I can tell that will test the patients(sp) a little.

Just take them over to the Sherman Bro's. They have a sawzall, seemed to work well on Rocketmans old Eliminator :D

Now that is funny stuff there, I hope they get the motor back up and running soon, I cant wait for my ride in the old Rocket Sled.
