that boat looks exactly like mine did.I bought mine in 8/88 as an 89 27 fever.later called the 29.twin 350/270 alphas.did a motor kit with carbs/cams/gill exhaust/ingn. they told me it was 320 kit with not much torque to hurt the drives.mine had swim platform and bucket seats. 21p props none counter rotating.I will look for more pics to post.I did look at an other that had 350/260 with no thru hull exhaust.there should be updated alpha drive hardware to beef them up.my drives lasted 10 years.

Do you remember the set up on the boat???...... In the pics it looks like yours has the integrated swim platform like mine......is that true??......(Fionn here on OSO has an 89/29 and it has a flat transom) Were you running alphas??.....(GLH swears to god his had OMCs) Did they counter rotate??(mine dont but I have a counter rotating drive I bought to install this year) If they did counter were they spinning in or out??? and finally, do you remember what props you ran??? this boat has turned out to be a pretty rare piece....maybe because half the year they had a flat transom.......mine also has bucket seats.....according to Reggie one of about a half dozen......Thanks so much for any info....Doug |

Have you ever noticed how reggie speaks to you like your an idiot. Which could lead to the ill will you all are speaking of.
I voiced my concern to him about my family being on the swim platform and causing his demo to take on water in the engine compartment. He in essence blew me off, and untill I see some sort of fix for his boats lack of freeboard I don't see myself owning one. However his company and the people that work for it make good boats for a great price. Just be willing to do a little fit and finish your self as well as alittle quality assurance before you head out to an oil rig. There is a big difference in stepped v and straight v boat speed and ride quality that can't be overlooked. Ultimately it all comes down to what it is that you want from a boat. I like a dry one. |

You had to go back a year ago to find this post. I have talked to Reggie a couple of times, he never talked to me like an idiot. Sometimes preoccupied, or brief if he is at a show talking to customers, but not disrespectful. Which model of Fountain was taking on water? Lets see, you've been a member since 2004, and this is your 6th post, and you are up at 4:15 a.m. on OSO, My guess their is more to this than we are being told. Sorry for your bad experience.

Ill will?..... not sure where that came from. Just how big is your family? What model boat? I've had 6 people at times on the back of my boat when tied up and never had any problem. The water would just barely start to get on the swim platform. There is absolutley no way water will ever get in the the engine compartment by coming over the top of the deck just sitting. But I'm sure that is not what you are claiming, water over the hatch opening. You may get water in there that will leak past behind the rubrail though in back if the sealant isn't applied heavy enough to the hull/deck joint. Mine used to leak there, but I resealed it, now no matter how I use my boat, never a single drop in the bilge. There is no 'fix' for the lack of freeboard, that's the design. You are talking about a design change. That's why you own a Formula, different strokes for different folks. I take it you are unhappy with your Formula since you were looking at Fountains? |
