Where is the best place to get sunpad skins with the emblem on them for a 35. I called fountain and they want $950 for the skins.

I have found that the Fountain skins have been less expensive than having them done locally.

When I looked into this a few yrs ago, any savings by having a local trim shop do the work will be ate up in the time it will take them to dissassemble each peice to make a pattern, where as Fountain alrready has the patterns. Plus they fit perfect.

OLD thread, but looking to get a new sunpad done soon, to better match my new paint, I called McLeod , because they are local & I've had them do work in the past which I thought was reasonable, anyway the quoted me 2000-2500 for a new sunpad skin , anyone had one done recently by Fountain under new ownership? Just want the skins only

Wildman_grafix 08-09-2011 12:09 PM

Thanks, still interested in options to redo the sunpad vinyl, I would like to get them directly from fountain, has anyone successfully purchased any skins lately?

JMPH 08-12-2011 03:19 PM

Just picked mine up for 07 38, installing this weekend, from fountain. The fountain staff was a pleasure to deal with.

Ran-Dom 32 08-15-2011 01:36 PM

lets see some pics of your new ride :coolcowboy: , what kind of time frame to have your skins made?

JMPH 08-15-2011 02:50 PM

just finishing a few things, turn around time about a week.

How hard was it to install the skins . What tools are required to perform this . Thanks

Wildman_grafix 08-17-2011 10:02 AM

How much was it from fountain and how hard to replace?

I just got a estimate locally to replace one section, and it was $500 IF I took the skin off.

the skins are fairly easy to replace, no special tools required, I had a section fixed on my sunpad at the beginning of the season, you just pull the old staples out, slip over the new vinyl & replace with new stainless steel staples

complete cockpit kit from Fountain for a 27 fever with 27 logo on sunpad is 3,800. My local upholstery chick who is awesome and cheap said she would be almost as much.
The logo sunpad and headrest piece was 950/270ish. It is not hard to do just very tedious, I just disassembled my entire interior to clean and let dry out, probably 5000 staples! and the bolsters are kind of a ***** to get out. I don't know why Fountain doesn't use harnesses/plugs for the wiring instead they hardwire everything. And the hydraulic seat rams can make quite a mess if you're not careful.

iv been hearing about people buying part from fountain. is there a book or something you can get to see what they offer cause there website doesnt show anything

27Fountain 11-05-2011 07:19 AM

Almost everything on the Fountain was made in house. If you call ask for Brian. Prices are very fair,

Spinletto 11-05-2011 07:30 AM

I tried to order skins the other day from Fountain and I was told there is no one there that can make them. If and when everyone comes back to work they could do them then. Apparently it's all up to the courts now.

That's crazy, I just spoke with a woman there less three weeks ago and she was ready to ship them out! I hope everything gets resolved in a manner that doesn't hurt the consumers.

prostockcat 11-06-2011 06:06 AM

thats whats Fountain quoted me also for my 42, all white with just the logo... that was about a month or so ago, McLeod was $1800 XT was $1500 & my local guy, who does great work quoted me $800 -$1000, guess who got the job? :grinser010:

soldier4402 11-09-2011 06:57 AM

Check junk yards and also post something in the wanted section here. There are always guys with new boats ditching skins and people that dont like what they have. Personally I couldnt pay fountain prices and would look for every other option. But I guess if you got the money,

Real Fast Marine 11-10-2011 04:13 PM

We will be happy to assist anyone needing skins. While we do not have the patterns we can still produce the skins and in every case we have an improved design and materials....especially for seat bottoms....right now we have a completely redesigned cockpit interior for Fountain sportboats with the first production version nearing completion....the bolster has been improved structurally with a smaller footprint and improved cosmetics.....We can take any design and incorporate it into the engine hatch...Good luck with Fountain and know that we are here if you need us.

BRT 11-10-2011 08:53 PM

I'm interested in seeing the new bolsters. I thought that the latest version (Post '06?) were far and away better than the versions that preceded it. Which were much nicer than the one in my 10 meter.

Thanks and I would like to point something out. As much as OEM parts are usually the better fit and quality but NOT always. Sometime companies that all they do is say make seat covers or make carpet or whatever can and are better and cheaper than what the OEM stuff is. They do it more thus have cheaper processing methods get raw material cheaper and have more experts doing it.
