It cost right at 800 dollars plus shipping, which was the worst part. I shipped my old one to them to make a mold. my boat is a 32 but I ordered two of them at the same time for my buddys 29 and it was the same price. here is the link if you want to contact them. http://www.acrylico.com/ the guys name is Carlos, he was a great guy to deal with. I am not sure what colors they offer, but they did not have purple. thats why I went with the blue. heres a few more pics and thanks for the kind words.

Re: New windshield from Acrylico
Hey thanks for the kudos on the windshield set!
We used the luminescent acrylic on the blue one. What's nice about it is that it's not annoying to see through and the edges light up with a deep rich color. There are quite a few colors. We've done them in a light green (a lot), yellow (It's like seeing through shooters glasses) and red (that one turned out too pink). Some colors are more available than others. |
Re: New windshield from Acrylico
Its ashame you can't do purple, What about White?? can you do the corner pieces also say to match white, the AL fairing is just too much$$??

Re: New windshield from Acrylico
Nope on the Purple - Just can't find the sheet on the market and and I don't think there is enough out there to order a special run. I did that with the blue and now I have it coming out my ears.
White is no problem. |
Re: New windshield from Acrylico
How much???
|
Re: New windshield from Acrylico
Just under $800.00 but beware the shipping is salty. We can do the corner pieces to match at no extra charge, which is a good thing so we can do it pre-drilled. Also if it's not something I've done before I'll need the old windshield or whats left of it to get a pattern. We don't charge for tooling in the hope that we can sell a couple and make up for it.

Re: New windshield from Acrylico
Looks good! let me know what you used - we're always looking for better systems.
The best I've seen so far is roughing it up with 400 grit, using Bulldog prep, then SEMCO flexible primer (used for auto bumpers) and a topcoat of Awlgrip, which I'm told is a little more flexible than Imron. That way it'll take flexing. In the south I'd try and stay away from dark colors because acrylic will start creep forming at around 150F. The problem with acrylic is that it's thermal expansion is way more than fiberglass, that's why you use rubber grommets in a the holes. In an 8' windshield that puppy can move as much as 3/8" Had bad luck with Krylon Fusion. While it goes on well, if you have to retouch it, it all krinkles up. Manufacturer says that you must retouch before the first hour or after seven days but it still comes up. |
