water in bilge
 

new 2004 fountain 35 ex no leaks that i can tell.all hose clamps tight.is it possible for the water to enter the bilge thru the bilge pump outlet fittings.they are very close to the water line.is anyone else having this problem?

Yes my 35 sometimes water will get in there at beach's. Water splash can get in the vents too.

My 42 Lightning was taking in a small amount of water for some time and I couldn't figure it out. Finally I had occasion to mess with one of the big stainless exhaust pipes going out through the transom and found that it wasn't sealed where it passed through the plastic bushing. There is supposed to be silicone around the pipe, but two of mine had nothing, therefor the slow leak. I suggest sealing all 4 (I used black high temp silicone) and giving it a try.

It was undetectable from inside the bilge, but at the end of the day I had water.

My Exhaust lets a little water in from the Hinge pin housing which the internal flappers are conected to. These are the ones that control the direction of the exhaust -out throught the hub or our through the transom.

There was an other thread about this not too long ago. Don't forget to check if your cooler emptys into the bilge. Mine also leaks at the silent choice diverters.

thanks guys but none of the above.i tasted the water it's salt so i know its not the cooler.i might try that jello thing next!

I always get water in there, for me it's coming from the big vent holes out the back. I try to bring it off plane as slow as possible to keep water from sneaking in, but I still get some, I can see it by the tubing for the blowers.

How many hours are on the motors? Check the engine circulating pumps and see if they are dripping from the weep hole from the underside of the housing. Also is stated earlier, it could be the blower vents taking on water as you are coming off plane.

not the blower vents.the boat has 4 hours yes four hours.

I had a leak in my boat when I bought it, it tured out to be the rubber boot the shift cables goes through the drive in had a small tear in it.
