Fuel guage question
Just took my first run of the season this weekend in my new to me 2000 29 Fever with twin 350's. Ran great, water was pretty flat in Long Island Sound, and it was nice out. What more can you ask for? Question.... I believe my fuel was full and I waited for the guage to show some movement but after about two hours of combined slow and moderately fast running the guage only began to bounce off full a little. Obviously I burned some gas but I wonder if anyone out there has experience with what I should expect from the guage and if I can count on it to keep me from running out? :D

Re: Fuel guage question
Run boat another 10-15 min. and watch guage go from just below F to 1/4 tank. Just be sure to have fuel dock in sight because youre probably running on fumes. :D

Re: Fuel guage question
And right after it hits 1/4, better be handing the dock girl your ropes. :p

Re: Fuel guage question
Typical Fountion fuel, guage mine does basically the same thing 2000 35 when the guage reads a little less then 1/2 you are OUT.

Re: Fuel guage question
So basically it sounds like the gauge goes from full to less than a 1/4 once the tank is getting low. Does the time from 1/2 OR 3/4 to 1/4 have any pattern you can count on? Any rouph idea how many hours of running time at average speeds? Any rules of thumb like I already figure 1/4 is empty? Thanks for the help with this. I guess at this point I WILL COSIDER IT EMPTY AT 1/4 READING. Any other suggestions are welcome.

Re: Fuel guage question
I know that when my gauge is about 2/3, there's only 40 gallons in my 130 gallon tank

Re: Fuel guage question
AT 1/4 tank mine is empty.I found this out as I was pulling into gas dock and one engine shut down and as I hit the dock the second engine died.Talk about close call. Now when its at 3/4 I look for gas.

Re: Fuel guage question
You will get used to it after a while. Just figure on filling up at around 1/4 to 1/2 tank. Do this a few times and you will know the level pretty accurately.
