Looked at a 91 35 need advice
I looked a a 1991 35 Lightning the other day it has 309 HRS on it and has factory 525's that have never been apart, hydraulic steering, docking lights ect. Not a bad looking boat, there are however a few small stress cracks on either side right in front of the engine hatches. The broker says they all did that, my 93 27 didn't. It also has a Eagle trailer that looks like it will haul a bulldozer, may look into a tandem aluminum. He is asking in the upper 50's seems like a lot to me. A little dated white and blue, :evilb: (black rub rails) I bet that sucks to change. Broker says it will run in the 80's any commets

Low 80s The small crack in front of the engine room If its small is normal also to the port and star sides in the front corners also norm (Small) the rub rail is a day project not real bad to do if you have a helper. 50s if ins on a good trailer is a good number if it vets out clean!

Re: Looked at a 92 35 need advice
i bought a 92 35 lighting from calif. i paid 57$ then two thousand to get it to ohio i did alot of research and on my budget it was good for me. my boat had alot of updates new cockpit interior new sun pad interior powdercoated rails nice graphics very clean boat.needed a dash update witch cost about $2500 by the time i finished it,new cabin interior and carpet another $3500 then i put $4000 in outdrives.i now have a very clean 92 boat witch i get alot of compliments on and nobody believes it's a 92 but with that said it is a 92 and how much is it really worth?i did what i wanted was to get the look of a newer boat without the cost but in the end still put $10k in the boat but i'm happy with it and i dont have to make a boat payment every month that i like alot! good luck with your decision ALL IN

they are small stress cracks in the gel on the gunwales right at the front corners of the engine hatches is this normal, is there any other differences in the older 35's verses say a 1995 other than the steps

Re: Looked at a 92 35 need advice
I was real interested in that boat just haven't been able to get there. I'm still interested if you don't decide to get it. How was the condition of the paint I was told it was a bit caulky? Maybe just needs a good detailing. My concern was also the hrs. But still let me know how it goes. Thanks, Jeff

Wet sanded it with 320, 600, then 1000 and buffed it out about 3 times with 3M heavy duty compound. Looks brand new. I never tought the boat would shine again... I was wrong. It took alot of hard work, but it really paid off.. all 38 feet of it!!!! |
