1990 36 Fountain Questions

Looking at a 420/trs boat with an eye towards bigger power and Konrad drives at some point. Boat is all there with no damage and excellent history- could probably be run as is with no trouble for many years to come. I am interested in any thoughts anyone has on this boat- I will be moving from a 311 sr-1 (I am tired of getting smoked by the old man's 33). :drink:

I have an 89 Bravo version and love it. The cockpit layout is nice and large and the lines on the Fever are still my favorite. I have not used it offshore but the lake does tend to get choppy at times and the boat handles everything on the lake extremely well.

My dad's 33 (which became the 35 the next year, go figure) is pretty solid in the rough for a light hull. I am a little sketched by the TRS set up in this boat, but they are tough as nails. This boat is so clean, it might warrant the $$$ in the future to really dial it in with power and new drives. And a new stereo. And a race fairing. And a . . . and a . . . and a . . . .

Great Boat If Ya Know The History And Its Clean...i Would Not Be A Bit Scared To Move On That.. Trs Is A Good Drive, Dont Be Bravo Brainwashed, There Good Too Dont Get Me Wrong There Lighter And Easier To Work On But In My Thoughts The Money It Cost For A Change Over Is Not Worth It....run The Piss Out Of The Trs Jam Power Down There Throat But Try To Keep The Drives In The Water And Ease On Plane......if They Blow Buy Konrads Go With Extension Boxes Good Props .....you Will Have A Fast Stable Good Handling Rig You Can Keep Forever...........i Am Old School Bias Opinion, Heavy Old Hull Big Power And Tough Drives......aquatic Caddy...cant Beat Em

I would not upgrade with Konrads and bigger power. You will never get the money back. How much is asking price? Good luck with the venture.

How fast was one of those older (1990) 42 Lightnings with twin 420's ?

We upgraded ours to big power and Konrads. The Konrads are bomb proof and the big power gives us some respectable speeds. As far as return on investment goes... we are talking offshore boat here right? Anyway, I'm very sure that I have less in my boat than guys with newer rigs that I'm running deck to deck with. Plus the non step takes the real rough water beter than all the stepped boys. When it's time to sell I'll take a bath like everyone else, just less of a bath.
