Prop for a 04 29
 

What is the desired set up for a 04 29" with a single 525? Present set up has a Bravo, 4 blade 26P. Any suggestions

I'm using a 28P Bravo but a LH rotation on my 03 (same engine) In cool air (70) it's just about perfect, I've seen about 80 with that wheel. I had a Merc labbed 28 but it slipped a lot and I ran into the rev limiter at 73. For the summertime and the heat I want to get into something in between, something with a better holeshot and better midrange for throttling between swells. a stock 28 is a dog out of the hole and in the mid in Florida heat. I might see 76 with that one. I will be working with Julie from Throttle Up very soon. I won't get into the top speed prop for myself until the Florida "winter" is upon us. I would suggest getting with her on this one, but make sure of your rotation, I'm told that LH does add 1 or 2 on the speedo. Good luck!

This might sound like a dumb question but I thought all single screw motors ran the same the prop in the same direction?

A LH single is very rare and I had to triple check mine because my boat came propless. (started engine and put in gear and watched propshaft rotate left) Is yours a LH? I'm told 29's run faster running a LH. I think I have an idea why, but not sure. I'm hoping to be able to turn a labbed 30" in good conditions. 5300 rpm's should get me close to 82-84 mark I'm told.

Ive got an 05 29 with 575. Im currently running a LH 30 b1, when i got the boat it had a rh, I never noticed much difference in performance but everyone says the left does perform better. But your more likely to break your drive spinnin Lh like I just did yesterday (happy 4th for me, haha.) My best so far was 82gps with 60gal. fuel and 75-80 degrees out.

Ive got a 00 29 with HP 500 carb. I have changed the cam, milled heads, CMI's, etc. Myself and the previous owner (FeverMike) have both tried a bunch of different props. I have tried 3 blades (definitely a no), 4 blade bravos (get on plane and cruise good), 4 blade hydros (the best for top speed). I have turned them LH and RH with little to no performance change. I am currently running in the RH rotation turning two different props a 26 Hydro QIV RH Labbed by Mike Hall @5500 rpms 77 mph gps, and a 28 Hydro QIV RH Labbed by Throttle Up @5000 rpms 75 mph gps. The 26 is really thin and has some of the diameter clipped out. The labbed Hydro's will slip a little more getting on plane, but once up and going they respond really well. Last year I had a 250 blower and ran a 29 stock hydro rh @5400 84-85 gps. I would call Julie at Throttle Up for advise. Probably would try a 26 or 27 hydro. I think your x dimension is a little different than mine also.

Left hand is a little harder on the top gear case of the Bravo Drive. It wants to throw the gears up and out of the top cap. I ran my 29 like it came from the factory as a left hand drive with out any problem....gottaFever has the boat now. I ran Right and Left and noticed no real difference in performance.

I found that out the hard way... destroyed the whole top case, gears, etc... Now have an XR drive and RH rotation...
