trading the 30 eliminator for 35 or 38 lightning
Hey guys Im thinking of getting rid of my daytona & getting a 35 or 38 lightning I like the staggerd motors on the 38 & it looks like the 35 is nearly impossible to work on the motors ? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Im only getting rid of the daytona to get a slower boat as per my girls request. My boat will run 116

What power do you have? A 42 poker run with 600s runs 100+ 525s is upper 90s.
38 lightning is 106+ with 600s, and 115+ with the new 700s. |

Have owned both, the 35 and 38 Lightning. The question comes down to where are you going to use the boat. The 35 isnt as bad as it looks, the rear seat back goes up with the hatch giving you room to work on it. The 38 looks easier, but you wouldnt want to change a sea water pump on the foward motor. Their isnt much of a difference in driving the two, the 38 seems to be balanced better. The 35 is a great boat also, it will accelerate a little faster, being lighter, but it comes down to where you boat. My choice is the 38, everyone starts smaller than wants more. Cut right to the chase and get the bigger one. Trailering is an issue, you may have to consider, dont know. I think the 38 is only 500 lbs more than the 35, so its not really a big deal. Bottom line water test both and make a decision. Its the only way you will know what you like and dislike about the boats. Good luck. |
