SuperChiller for 29 Fountain w/575sc

Hi All,

First post here on the Fountain board.

I am thinking about installing a superchiller on a 29' Fountain with a 575sc. Has anyone done this upgrade already? I know they have a nice 700hp package. It comes with the intercooler and fuel system upgrade.

I have a concern about engine hatch clearance. The kit raises the blower by 4 inches. Is there enough space for that? I like the rear deck padding and don't want to put a scoop on it.

Any experience or ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks.............

Hey Ive got the same boat and have thought about doing what you are thinking of doing. But for now Ive decided to leave it stock because I dont want drive problems. But you can cut out an insert to get the clearance and not have to put on a scoop. I have talked to a guy that has done this and he sees about 88 on GPS.

Hi tnothin,

Thanks for the feedback. What type of drive issues do you think you'll have? The XR is a fairly high rated outdrive. What are you seeing on the stock 575sc? I'm only getting about 75-76 mph. Thought it would have been more.

Good to know it can be done without a scoop though. I like the engine hatch cover logo.

Thanks,

Steve

You must have something wrong with your Motor! I have a good friend that runs consistantly in the mid to upper 80's on GPS with a stock 575. If I'm not mistaken I believe his test sheet from Fountain say's 84. I think the 525's are good for 75-80. Where are you located? Maybe the elevation is a factor?

Im seein about 81-82 on GPS. And then there must be something wrong with mine too, because Im not in the Mid 80s and no where near the upper 80s.

I just blew up a drive on the 4th of July, Snapped the vertical shaft in half and shered off some of the lower and upper gears, $6300 later and it was fixed. We were just cruzin along at about 60 and 4200 on the tach, and then boom.

tnothin ........

are you running a bravo 4 blade 30p prop or some type of labbed prop? I have a 32p and only rev up to about 5000rpm. I think moving to a 30p would put me up a few more MPH and get me to the full 5300 rpm. Maybe that is my key to hitting 80.

Get in the bildge and have someone close the engine hatch and take a measurment to see if you have that 4" clearance you need.

Ditto on the drive :(

I am the one NEED was talking about - I ran 89.7 on GPS while banging the rev limiter at 5450 rpm - the motor is stock except for .010 off the deck and heads when i freshened it plus I put a slightly smaller dia. pulley on the blower (about 3/8"smaller) along with water injection which I fit myself under the Throttle Bodies out of the airstream - I also replaced my 2001 XR with the newest XR last year which is faster (less drag) - I also added a 1/2" spacer to the drive - The X-dimension was too high from the factory and I was actually loosing speed when my fuel load went below 3/8 tank, when it should be going FASTER  --- Anyhow, after all those little details, 90mph on Fresh Water at 425 ft altitude :p

Dviper94- Im runnin a Labbed B1 LH 30 and at 5350 im at 82.
I tryed a labbed 32 and could only spin it at 4800 at 76, but it was 100 degrees out. I would like to try a 32 when it is only about 70 outside. Because once the temp dips below 80 I am all over the rev limiter with my 30. Ive calculated the slip and the efficency is better with a 32 If I could spin it at 5000 I think I would be at about 80, there for if I could only spin it about 5200 I know I would of course be faster with a 32 then a 30 and at about 200 less RPM.

What was your stock X Dim. and now what is it, how much speed did you pick up.
