A 38 or 42 with out the refrig, pump out toilet, sink, TV and all the other stuff I will never use in a boat? Will Fountain build a covergirl Cigarette style cabin with just a v-berth?

With out all the added weight of the stuff I never use I would think I could pick up some speed and also have less problems of this type of stuff breaking plus more room around the engines in the bildge.

chief, I did go down to Ft. Myers last week. I even went by the Fountain dealer to look at the 42 Lightning they have. sorry I missed ya but it was a quick business trip for the day and back home.

Slandrew, I like the Poker Run but the wifey does not. I like the Lightning?Ex lay out but just do not want the sink, refrig, toilet, countertop, tv type of stuff.

I am pretty sure that Fountain will make you what you want, but I seem to remember someone looking into this a few years back and being quoted a higher price for making one without the cabin. It would be easy enough to call and ask. 252-975-2000

You'll lose your "second home" interest deduction on your taxes if you don't have that stuff. Unless you are paying cash, then it doesn't matter.

Just need to have the loan secured by the value of the boat, include a space for sleeping, an enclosed head, and place to prepare food. A portipotty in the cabin is all that will be necessary but prepare food is open to interpretation. The factory does not include anything more than a sink and cooler.

The other option is a home equity loan.

The thing that most people miss is having the loan secured by the vessel.

That is good to know. I thought you had to have running water which IMO is pointless in the cabin of a speedboat.

Seems like a really good option for Fouyntain to add to their larger boats. My 27 only has the bench and a bed and thats all I would ever use!

I mean does anyone actually use all that stuff in the cabin??? I only go in the cabin to ^%#* and sleep. Don't need any sinks, tv, microwaves, fans.>>>> Just more crap to break.

I am getting ready to make a loan on the difference between my 27 and a 35, do I need to do anything different to take the deduction at the time of making the loan. :evilb:

No you do it on your taxes at the end of the year granted your boat meets the above requirements.

If you have a loan on your boat and your boat meets the requirements about (sleeping, eating, crapping) you can write off the interest you pay on the loan as interest on a secondary residence (just as you write off the interest you pay on your mortgage).
