triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
All things being equal (forgetting the BIG price difference), which one's gonna ride better??
|
Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
I hear there is a triple 1075 47' in the works now, just wait a few weeks and we will have the answer.

Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??

|
Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
3 Attachment(s)
Twin 1075s is the setup we have had both in stock the 1075 is a Awesome package!!!!!with a pair of #6s and the power to weight thing! 1 less engine and drive cant be bad the lake test on the 1075s was 120 :D :D not broken in !

Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
I just thought that the staggered twins would lower the center of gravity and bring it closer to the centerline than triples (I have 3 X 525s), giving the 47 a little more of the ride of a 42. Anyone ride in both?

Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
I would have to go for the 1075 boat....less BS with just 2 motors and even faster since its less weight.
And , Yes the CG is better too. |
Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
But after thinking about the 2 combos....the 3x700 boat would cost less and the motors will provide a longer service duration between rebuilds..

Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
How long on 1075's before a refresh? You might get more boating hours out of triple 700's.
If money was no object and I had a mechanic on call all the time to re-fresh I's go with the twin 1075's. |
Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
I think you'll find over the long run. Triple 700's will be more ecconomical than the twin 1075's. They won't need freshening up as often and they'll probably be better on gas. Also if you lose one engine it would be easier to drive it home on two rather than one. As far as initial cost I don't think the difference in price wil be all that great.
Oh and if money was no object I go with trip. 1075's myself. :evilb: |
Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
Its mid-August and we only have about 85 hours on the '05 we got last year. That means we're putting on less than 50 hours a season, so maybe the "refresh" interval isn't that important. I'm going to have to try the staggered 1075 setup, its gotta be the best riding. Triple 1075s is WAY over the top!

Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
RJ1340, I gotta ask...what is with the avitar?
|
avitar
I wondered the same thing.

Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
FEVER: You know as much about that avatar as I do. One day, there it was. I think its a gay symbol and I think someone somehow hacked into this system and put it there, but I don't really mind. What the heck! I'm sure I've done enough arsehole things to deserve it and its not so bad looking. How do you think it'll look stretched out along the sides of my new 47 with staggered 1075s?
|
Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
RJ1340, you do know that it is super easy to change your avitarto anyone of the stock one on OSO or put in another picture of your own? Hacked into the system  I don't think so. Strectched out on your new boat...it would look pretty GAY...I guess you are coming out of the ...uh...as they say....closet?

Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
I'd take the trip set up myself, for the obvious reasons (gas, overall up time, etc)
Oh by the way, when the wife saw your avitar she said it was GAY. So you may want to change it or not..."not that there's anything wrong with being gay" |

Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
Just a thought, but how much gas is tripp 1075s going to burn and how big is the gas tank, I think tripp 1075 would really limit your range?? Just a thought. Lets be honest Fountains are not know for big fuel tanks.

So less than 1 hour of running WOWOW  I can see it now, at Poker Runs, first one to the first stop, not because they want the card but so they can be the first to start refueling :D :D :D

Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
We are the only dealer to get a 47 with tripple 700's so far. The boat is 200k less then the 1075 twin boat and will still run 110mph with a year of warranties! It is available. Joe

Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
I hear there's a hold on the 700/NXT1 package because of some problems with the tiny tranny.
And YES, someone hacked into this system and changed my avatar. I know I can change it if I want to, but I'm not going to. The first time I saw that thing was when I read one of my posts a few months ago. Poof, there it was. Btw-if I came out of the closet, I'm sure I'd be told to get back in! |
Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
Wtf? :p

Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
If you tow to poker runs ... have a mechanical problem, you put it on the trailer and go home with twins... with tripples, chances are you are still going to have fun. Boating is always about planning for the next failure ... unfortunately!

Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
Yes, 38 is running great (96 mph)... but have be careful with the drives.. change oil every third outing and inspect the gears twice per season.
|
Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
Wow, that's smoking :) Did you change to shorties or are you running the same drive height as when you got it?
|
Re: triple 7s or twin 1075s for 47 Lightning??
on the gas milage, i drive a 47 with twin 1075's it averages .82 miles to the gallon according to the smart craft gage at 85 mph. the boat ran 122mph at the factory and is a standard 47 set-up it also has a 400 gallon fuel capacity
