Bravo's on a 47 Fountain?
 

Wondering what good or bad luck you might have had with tripple Bravo's on a 47 Fountain with 500's or 575's?

I bought IMCO Extreme SC's when I rigged the boat. Triple 500efi. no problems in 75 hours. I have heard the center engine/ drive gets the most abuse because it's lower in the water. I am contemplating switching to a lesser prop on the center to lighten the load. I do realize about 20% more fuel usage on the center engine so it must be taking more load.

My buddy's 47 has eaten 2 drives so far in 300 hours (hard hours) they are XR with ITS behind 525 EFI's.

I know an engine builder who rigged an older 47 with huge power. He had some handling issues at high speed (over 100) and finally cured them by triming the center drive higher than the outside drives.

Has anyone tried this?

Have you had any luck on selling the boat? It is one of my favorite 47s out there.

I've got 300 hours on mine - 500's. No problems. The way I see it, 15,000 lbs divided by three is 5,000 lbs per motor. Not really much of a load.

I also disagree about the center engine having more load. It may have slightly more, but the drives are in a vee just like the hull. My motors all run at the same rpm with the same props so they must be pretty close. The center takes a little longer to break free when coming up on plane, but then they all run the same.

My starboard motor uses more fuel than the other two. Just the differences in the motors I suspect. (Ray, Generator draws fuel from center tank. Maybe that explains it?)
