I use a Chevy suburban 1500. It pulls the boat just fine. We have about 20 miles from our house to get to the harbor. I would'nt want to use this to tow it across the country or through any mountains, but for short trips under 200 miles it's just fine. Also the trailer has 6 wheel electric brakes too, that's a must.

I used a 2001 Ford F-350 crew cab dually, for my 1999 35ft that was a little overkill but I was planing ahead for the 42ft that I have now....LOL.....BZ

I tow with a 2003 Dodge cummings turbo 5.9 4-door 4 wheel and love it.

I used a Chevy 2500 HD 4X4 to pull my last 35 but the best thing I can use for now is 2005 Escalade.

I tried to use my 04 1500 4x4 Suburban but it was sketchy even after installing weight distribution and electric over hydraulic brakes on the aluminum trailer. I ended up buying an 02 F-350 diesel crewcab 4x4 on ebay and it tows like a champ.

Re: 35 Lightning tow vehicle

Indy, I have a 06' Escalade that pulls my 29' Fever. Want to upgrade to a 35' Lighting. Published dry weight is 8,700 lbs. Add a trailer and liquids, and we are over 10,000 lbs. I trailer every weekend, up to 300 miles. How does your Esclade feel with this much weight?

Re: 35 Lightning tow vehicle

We pulled our 35 twin step on aluminum Myco with our 2500HD 4WD, extended cab, gas motor, for a short while. Wasn't pretty. Pulled it with my friends F350 4 door diesel dually, and it was night and day difference. Really didn't feel "comfortable" anymore pulling it with our 2500HD, after pulling it with his rig.
