Any built in A/C users
I know A/C's are a rarity in Fountains for the most part, but where is your pickup located for an A/C unit? I'm thinking of locating it in the horizontal notch at the transom above the drain plug to keep it out of the water flow and not interfer with my trailer or lift bunks. Providing that area is a solid, not cored, location.
Rackster, any insider knowledge? '99 32' Fever Thanks |
Re: Any built in A/C users
That's exactly where my 01-42' pick up is for a/c, factory installed.

Thanks.

Re: Any built in A/C users
I was in my boat today but was not thinking about it. I believe I remember it being in the vertial section of the notch - you can see it looking dead on from the rear of the boat.

Re: Any built in A/C users
So on the same surface as the drain plug?
Would you mind getting a pic if at all possible? Thanks |
Re: Any built in A/C users
I'll be over in it tomorrow for winterizing. I take a pic for you.

Re: Any built in A/C users
Any luck Brian?
Thanks |
Re: Any built in A/C users
I'm sorry. I forgot. I'll try to do it quickly. It's only about 10 minutes from me.

Re: Any built in A/C users
No problem. It's my winter project, so no hurry.

Re: Any built in A/C users
I went by today, but shop was closed. It's monday, 55, and raining. I'll by over tomorrow and make note to do it.

Re: Any built in A/C users
THe water intake is in the vertical section of the notch 4" down and about 10" left of the drain plug. Inside the engine room, it comes in right above the bend that makes the notch.

Re: Any built in A/C users
Thanks.
That's where I'm leaning to install mine. |
Re: Any built in A/C users
The intake line for the air cond. strainer runs along the floor of the bilge directly into the vertical plane of the notch. The strainer if fastened to the port side of the center stringer.

Re: Any built in A/C users
My ac is under the sink in the cabinet, drains out the side of the boat.

Re: Any built in A/C users
Under the sink? Yours must be higher than mine. A perfect place too, no drilling thru the bulkheads to run the duct. Oh well. Might have to investigate that a bit. Does it sit down in a pocket below the carpeted cabinet bottom? Or is yours cooler/space/sink? Mine is cooler/sink.

Re: Any built in A/C users
Yes, its under the sink to the right of the door. It sits to the right of the drop in cooler. Mine is in a 2001 42 Lightning. Maybe there's a difference, but i doubt it. It has vents in the front of the cabinet and in the pod where the switches are located for the cabinet lights, fresh water pump, gen and shore power. I've seen one installed in a 35' (EX style) under the center cushion at the front of the seating. Vents through the front carpeted area. Dumps directly out the side just above the water line.

Re: Any built in A/C users
Now that you mention it, the bottom of the cabinet may be cut out so that it clears under the sink. I'll have to look at that.
