Re: Prop rotation
Spinning in is better for top speed but for you lose manuverability around docks.

Re: Prop rotation
You'll get a zillion answers on this one! My understanding is, on Fountains at least, non stepped hulls do a bit better spinning out and steped hulls spinning in. This is probably an oversimplification and only relative to top speed. I have experimented with both my '04 29 and '05 35 Ex (both single step hulls) and lost about 1-2 mph on top end changing from spinning in (factory setting) to spinning out. These runs were made back to back in as identical conditions as practical. Handling around the dock was much improved (don't ask me why, I haven't a clue) but my feeling is this; people literally spend tens of thousands of dollars to gain 2 mph on top end. Most of us buy and maintain these rigs for one reason...speed. I will live with looking like a jerk around the dock a few times a season and keep the performance I cherish so dearly! Obviously, the choice is yours and the only true way to figure out what's best is to TEST,TEST,TEST!
Boy, I really built a watch on this reply...good luck! GF |
Re: Prop rotation
Thanks,I understand turning the props in will give the boat stern lift . How will that effect the ride attitude of the boat? In any way will it cause a handling problem other then docking? Thanks!

Re: Prop rotation
I'd love to better understand why the handling around docks improves with props turrning out.
