opinions on 32 fever
looked at a 2000 32 fever with 502's thats for sale. have heard from a few people its a squirrley boat when run hard. i've never been in one so looking for opinions.
Thanks |
Re: opinions on 32 fever
The 32 runs well, had one with HP 500's, 82 mph, but try to find a 35, better balance, same speed same power, more room.

Re: opinions on 32 fever
I seriously considered one before buying my 35. Several years ago there was quite a price difference between the two, but with the market soft now, maybe not as much now.

Re: opinions on 32 fever
I looked hard at one, climbed all over it test drove it twice. I passed. I'd HATE to have to do any engine maintanance in a 32! They are smaller than the 35 and still slower with the same power. I did not thing the overall balance was right.

I have a 2000 32 with stock 502's...I love the boat it handles great, pops right up on plane and runs 78 on gps all day long. The 35 is also a great boat but I dont really use the cabin so the extra room you get is not really an issue. I love the 32 look as it sits in the water. I does sit low in the back..I have people come up to me all the time telling me my boat is sinking at the dock!
Good luck |
Re: opinions on 32 fever
32s are great boats. I have a 35 and had a 32 last year. The only size difference I can see is in the engine compartment. The cockpits are the same and so are the cabins. If there is any size difference at all in the cabin it is not much.

Thanks I've never experienced this squirrly issue on my '99 32'. However, it is more solid with the props turning out, vs turning in, which Fountain sends them out as. More speed some say, I noticed no change in speed, just handleing and docking control. I love mine, but can't wrong with bigger if possible. If I did have to do it again, I might have looked more for a 35. But a 32 it what I had my sights on at the time do to the price difference. I have no problem working in the engine compartment. Sure it's tight, but I'm just a little chit. I can wiggle down in front of the motors to change the sea water pumps sitting on the bottom. |
Re: opinions on 32 fever
I have a 35 now,but my my last boat was a 32 fever. I loved the
32.Mine was older & didnt have steps. It handled great. Like a sports car. The only thing I like better about my 35 is the walk around. Crawling over the windshield to get on the deck was a biotch! Oh yea, I like the split engine hatch on my 35 better too. |
Re: opinions on 32 fever
I love my 96 32 with stock 502,s. I can run 78 gps all day long, and it handles great. As far as a 35 with 502's running the same speed, I think that would be interesting.

Re: opinions on 32 fever
actually i've seen in some cases where the 35 is a lil faster then the 32 with the same power

Re: opinions on 32 fever
I have a 1998 (single step) 32 Fever. I love it! We get compliments all the time on how well it runs in rough water. I have twin 502 mags with gil exhaust and risers. It will run 80 mph on the gps any day of the week. I have yet to be outrun by a 35' with the same power. It is by far the best driving boat I have ever owned.

Re: opinions on 32 fever
How are you guys getting 78 and 80 out of your 502's?
I only see 75-76 with my 26" hydros that have been balanced and blueprinted. |
Re: opinions on 32 fever
I run 76 with 3/4 tank and four people at 5150 turning labbed 26 hydros. i could only pull 5000 before I got the props done running 75-76 at best.
I can hit 78 turning 5150 with 1/2 tank and two people. The best I have seen was 78.6 in the ozarks this spring with air temp about 55 and 1-2 foot chop by myself and not much gas. Tabs at 3 (flat) drives at just a tick above 6 on the drives (5 7/8) |
Re: opinions on 32 fever
I have 26 hydro's and getting 78 @ 5150, I put 28 hydros, and got a solid 80 @ 4950

Re: opinions on 32 fever
I have not tried Hydro props. My 1998 32' single step Fever has stock 502 mags with Gil headers and risers. The best speed I have seen is 84 mph one way on the gps. Running the opposite direction it only ran 78 for an average of 81 mph. This was with two people in the boat and a half tank of gas. Six mph is a lot of difference but it was with a good wind and strong current. I am running lab finished 30 pitch Bravo I's and I am taching them 5200 rpm's. These props were originally lab finished by Mercury Racing and recently dialed in by BBlades. BBlades said to figure them at 29 pitch as all Bravo I's are about 1 inch less pitch than what they are stamped.

Re: opinions on 32 fever
Dang, you be puttin the smack down on the HP500 equiped boats.
I tried some 28 or 30 (I forget) Bravos last summer. Couldn't turn them, too much prop. As it is now, my rpms won't go past 5000. |

Re: opinions on 32 fever
My 2001 35' would only run 74 with 502s and stock 26 Hydros. The CMI e-tops were a nice addition, but didn't notice any increase in speed. In fact, I only picked up 4 mph when I added headers and Arizona speed package. I stayed with 26 Hydros, but my rpms increased from 4900 to 5200.
