Ya know - bad things hapen to good people all the time - Have you yet seen any purpose to bad weather except to wreak havoc - ruin peoples lives and destroy their property - these freak weather patterns have arrived and they are here to stay. Used to be a time when my 29 outlaw was plenty big for the Chesapeake bay. After 2003 it just became a plain nasty place to go boating - water is rough everytime I go out and its getting more violent every year. Getting to the point where the 35 isnt going to be big enough. Not much to say - your pictures tell the story. Protect yourself - overbuild it - oversize it - overdo it - nature is a MOTHER.

You are so right. My 242 Formula used to be enough. I hope my 42 Beaker "lasts" a while.

Thanks for the link, i can't vew pics here anymore since my membership expired.

I take it those are all floating docks with roofs supported by the floating docks?

Do you guys not get snow there normally? It's not that far south, i would expect that this would be a normal annual occurrance, and the docks would be designed appropriately. That doesn't look like that much snow, maybe 6"... am i wrong? How much did you get?

That looks like some serious damage. It also looks like in some places the boats are actually holding up the docks and supporting the roofs.

Around here we get weather like that annually. I've never seen a roof supported by a floating dock. The enclosed wells around here are supported by some serious pilings, and there are usually hoists built into the roof to lift the boats up and support them on the docks for the winter. Any floating docks, of course, have to be removed from the water for the winter.

Re: Extensive dock damage from snow at LOTO

Most of the damage was due to the 4-5 inches of freezing rain/ ice that built up then about 10 of wet snow too much weight
