Had a 1993 32'. Re-built 502s into 540s, never dynoed motors, and never changed lowers, boat was handfull at 90 mph, so I went to slightly smaller prop for better cruising and all around performance. Ran 88 any day with 30-4 blade Bravos. Never dialed in any closer, over 90, things changed to quick in that boat for me.

My 2001 35' single step with 540s - 710 hp @5800 rpms runs 91-92 gps with stock lowers and hydro 29s. I'm thinking about shorties in the spring. Any suggestions?

I had a 1991 32 with 540s. You need the props turning in on that boat. At 600, you should see mid 80's.

I agree with you. Will take some skill driving. very short Hull. Although my 32 which ran just south of 80 never did anything funny. Lowers would definaely help due to the low x dim. Or a set of imco setback boxes with a 1" invert. would probably ride a lot better and improve the overall attitude of the boat.. But then again it depends on where you boat. My 32 was just too short of a hull for the slop that Lake Erie dishes out. On a smaller lake the 32 would be a lot better. You are not going to run 90 plus int 3-4ft chop. just my 2 cents
